We establish the cancellation of the first |2j-q| terms in the diagonal asymptotic expansion of the restriction to the (0, 2j)-forms of the Bergman kernel associated to the modified spin^c Dirac operator on high tensor powers of a line bundle with mixed curvature twisted by a (non necessarily holomorphic) complex vector bundle, over a compact symplectic manifold. Moreover, we give a local formula for the first and the second (non-zero) leading coefficients which generalizes the Puchol-Zhu's...

We consider the problem of Partial Quantifier Elimination (PQE). Given formula exists(X)[F(X,Y) & G(X,Y)], where F, G are in conjunctive normal form, the PQE problem is to find a formula F*(Y) such that F* & exists(X)[G] is logically equivalent to exists(X)[F & G]. We solve the PQE problem by generating and adding to F clauses over the free variables that make the clauses of F with quantified variables redundant. The traditional Quantifier Elimination problem (QE) is a special case...

Applying the Hric-J\"ager blow up technique, we give an affirmative answer to the question about the existence of non-invertible minimal circle-fibered self-maps of the Klein bottle. In addition, we present a simpler construction of a non-invertible minimal self-map of two dimensional torus.

We study the communication complexity of linear algebraic problems over finite fields in the multi-player message passing model, proving a number of tight lower bounds. Specifically, for a matrix which is distributed among a number of players, we consider the problem of determining its rank, of computing entries in its inverse, and of solving linear equations. We also consider related problems such as computing the generalized inner product of vectors held on different servers. We give a...

We present an analysis of the fast coronal mass ejection (CME) of 2012 March 7, which was imaged by both STEREO spacecraft and observed in situ by MESSENGER, Venus Express, Wind and Mars Express. Based on detected arrivals at four different positions in interplanetary space, it was possible to strongly constrain the kinematics and the shape of the ejection. Using the white-light heliospheric imagery from STEREO-A and B, we derived two different kinematical profiles for the CME by applying the...

Numerous channels of the cross section e+e- --> hadrons have been measured by the BABAR experiment using the ISR method. For the pi+pi-(gamma) and K+K-(gamma) channels, BABAR has pioneered the method based on the ratio between the hadronic mass spectra and mu+mu-(gamma). Many systematic uncertainties cancel in the ratio, hence the precise measured cross sections. These measurements have been exploited for phenomenological studies, like the determination of the hadronic contribution to the...

Families of steady states of the spherically symmetric Einstein-Vlasov system are constructed, which are parametrized by the central redshift. It is shown that as the central redshift tends to zero, the states in such a family are well approximated by a steady state of the Vlasov-Poisson system, i.e., a Newtonian limit is established where the speed of light is kept constant as it should be and the limiting behavior is analyzed in terms of a parameter which is tied to the physical properties of...

We define Kazhdan-Lusztig bases and study asymptotic forms for affine $q$-Schur algebras following Du and McGerty. We will show that the analogues of Lusztig's conjectures for Hecke algebras with unequal parameters hold for affine $q$-Schur algebras. We will also show that the affine $q$-Schur algebra $\mathcal{S}_{q,k}^{\vartriangle}(2,2)$ over a field $k$ has finite global dimension when char $k=0$ and $1+q\neq 0.$

A proof for the point-wise convergence of the factors in the higher-order power method for tensors towards a critical point is given. It is obtained by applying established results from the theory of \L{}ojasiewicz inequalities to the equivalent, unconstrained alternating least squares algorithm for best rank-one tensor approximation.

Non-equilibrium active matter made up of self-driven particles with short-range repulsive interactions is a useful minimal system to study active matter as the system exhibits collective motion and nonequilibrium order-disorder transitions. We studied high-aspect-ratio self-propelled rods over a wide range of packing fraction and driving to determine the nonequilibrium state diagram and dynamic properties. Flocking and nematic-laning states occupy much of the parameter space. In the flocking...

The no-boundary proposal provides a compelling theory for the initial conditions of our universe. We study the implications of such initial conditions for ekpyrotic and cyclic cosmologies. These cosmologies allow for the existence of a new type of "ekpyrotic instanton", which describes the creation of a universe in the ekpyrotic contraction phase. Remarkably, we find that the ekpyrotic attractor can explain how the universe became classical. In a cyclic context, in addition to the...

We determine the asymptotic size of the largest component in the $2$-type binomial random graph $G(\mathbf{n},P)$ near criticality using a refined branching process approach. In $G(\mathbf{n},P)$ every vertex has one of two types, the vector $\mathbf{n}$ describes the number of vertices of each type, and any edge $\{u,v\}$ is present independently with a probability that is given by an entry of the probability matrix $P$ according to the types of $u$ and $v.$ We prove that in the weakly...

We investigate the influence of uniaxial strain on site occupancy of hydrogen vanadium, using density functional theory. The site occupancy is found to be strongly influenced by the strain state of the lattice. The results provide the conceptual framework of the atomistic description of the observed hysteresis in the alpha to beta phase transition in bulk, as well as the preferred octahedral occupancy of hydrogen in strained V layers.

This work presents an exactly soluble scheme to address the problem of optimal transfer of quantum states through a set of $s$ harmonic oscillators composing a network with connected ends as a closed quantum circuit. For this purpose we start from a general quadratic Hamiltonian form. The relationship between the parameters of the Hamiltonian, the network size, and the time interval required for such transfer are explicitly shown. Particular physical realizations of this Hamiltonian, transfer...

We study ${\mathcal{N}}=2$ supersymmetric $U(N)$ Chern-Simons with $N_{f}$ fundamental and $N_{f}$ antifundamental chiral multiplets of mass $m$ in the complete parameter space spanned by $(g,\,m,\,N,\,N_{f})$, where $g$ denotes the coupling constant. In particular, we analyze the matrix model description of its partition function, both at finite $N$ using the method of orthogonal polynomials together with Mordell integrals and, at large $N$ with fixed $g$, using the theory of Toeplitz...

The strongest interaction between microscopic spins in magnetic materials is the exchange interaction $J_\text{ex}$. Therefore, ultrafast control of $J_\text{ex}$ holds the promise to control spins on ultimately fast timescales. We demonstrate that time-periodic modulation of the electronic structure by electric fields can be used to reversibly control $J_\text{ex}$ on ultrafast timescales in extended antiferromagnetic Mott insulators. In the regime of weak driving strength, we find that...

This article is from Interactive Journal of Medical Research , volume 3 . Abstract Background: There is an ongoing debate regarding the cost-benefit of different surgical modalities for hysterectomy. Studies have relied primarily on evaluation of clinical outcomes and medical expenses. Thus, a paucity of information on patient-reported outcomes including satisfaction, recovery, and recommendations exists. Objective: The objective of this study was to identify differences in patient satisfaction...

An off-shell generalization of the Abbott-Deser-Tekin (ADT) conserved charge was recently proposed by Kim et al. They achieved this by introducing off-shell Noether currents and potentials. In this paper, we construct the crucial off-shell Noether current by the variation of the Bianchi identity for the expression of motion equation, with the help of the property of Killing vector. Our Noether current, which contains an additional term that is just one half of the Lie derivative of a surface...
