We provide here a roadmap for modeling silicon nano-devices with one or two group V donors (D). We discuss systems containing one or two electrons, that is, D^0, D^-, D_2^+ and D_2^0 centers. The impact of different levels of approximation is discussed. The most accurate instances -- for which we provide quantitative results -- are within multivalley effective mass including the central cell correction and a configuration interaction account of the electron-electron correlations. We also derive...

We investigate the vacuum fermionic currents in the geometry of a compactified cosmic string on background of de Sitter spacetime. The currents are induced by magnetic fluxes running along the cosmic string and enclosed by the compact dimension. We show that the vacuum charge and the radial component of the current density vanish. By using the Abel-Plana summation formula, the azimuthal and axial currents are explicitly decomposed into two parts: the first one corresponds to the geometry of a...

A periodic two-phase algebro-geometric solution of the focusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation is constructed in terms of elliptic Jacobi theta-functions. A dependence of this solution on the parameters of a spectral curve is investigated. An existence of a real smooth finite-gap solution of NLS equation with complex initial phase is proven. Degenerations of the constructed solution to one-phase traveling wave solution and solutions in the form of the plane waves are carried.

We determine the temporal evolution of the luminosity L(WD), radius R(WD) and effective temperature Teff of the white dwarf (WD) pseudophotosphere of V339 Del from its discovery to around day 40. Another main objective was studying the ionization structure of the ejecta. These aims were achieved by modelling the optical/near-IR spectral energy distribution (SED) using low-resolution spectroscopy (3500 - 9200 A), UBVRcIc and JHKLM photometry. During the fireball stage (Aug. 14.8 - 19.9, 2013),...

We present a comprehensive theoretical framework for the Andreev bound state population dynamics in superconducting weak links. Contrary to previous works, our approach takes into account the generated nonequilibrium distribution of the continuum quasiparticle states in a self-consistent way. As application of our theory, we show that the coupling of the superconducting contact to environmental phase fluctuations induces a charge imbalance of the continuum quasiparticle population. This...

We experimentally study the spin dynamics of mesoscopic ensembles of ultracold magnetic spin-3 atoms located in two separated wells of an optical dipole trap. We use a radio-frequency sweep to selectively flip the spin of the atoms in one of the wells, which produces two separated spin domains of opposite polarization. We observe that these engineered spin domains are metastable with respect to the long-range magnetic dipolar interactions between the two ensembles. The absence of inter-cloud...

This letter presents a search for new resonances decaying to final states with a vector boson produced in association with a high transverse momentum photon, $V\gamma$, with $V= W(\rightarrow \ell \nu)$ or $Z(\rightarrow \ell^{+} \ell^{-})$, where $\ell = e$ or $\mu$. The measurements use 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector. No deviations from the Standard Model expectations are found, and production...

The 2-D phase unwrapping problem aims at retrieving a "phase" image from its modulo $2\pi$ observations. Many applications, such as interferometry or synthetic aperture radar imaging, are concerned by this problem since they proceed by recording complex or modulated data from which a "wrapped" phase is extracted. Although 1-D phase unwrapping is trivial, a challenge remains in higher dimensions to overcome two common problems: noise and discontinuities in the true phase...

Abstract Introduction: Pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade can develop in patients with virtually any condition that affects the pericardium. A high index of suspicion with proper diagnostic scheme can lessen the concomitant morbidity and mortality. Although cardiac tamponade mimics many medical conditions, internists and primary care physicians should be aware of the physiological and clinical aspects of the disease...

We derive several new results for Renyi entropy, $S_n$, across generic entangling surfaces. We establish a perturbative expansion of the Renyi entropy, valid in generic quantum field theories, in deformations of a given density matrix. When applied to even-dimensional conformal field theories, these results lead to new constraints on the $n$-dependence, independent of any perturbative expansion. In 4d CFTs, we show that the $n$-dependence of the universal part of the ground state Renyi entropy...

Suppose we want to patrol a fence (line segment) using k mobile agents with given speeds v_1, ..., v_k so that every point on the fence is visited by an agent at least once in every unit time period. Czyzowicz et al. conjectured that the maximum length of the fence that can be patrolled is (v_1 + ... + v_k)/2, which is achieved by the simple strategy where each agent i moves back and forth in a segment of length v_i/2. We disprove this conjecture by a counterexample involving k = 6 agents. We...
