On this part: http://www.thingiverse.com/image:57507 You can see some damped oscillations after the logo. I made this thing to try to get a better look at them. The photos were taken of a part built on MiseryBot which has a lowrider. Printing was at 40mm/sec Someone with mote math skilz than me might be able to draw some conclusion as to what the waves mean.

I had a commercial brush kind of like this once. The base is thin, so it is flexible. It is good for short haired animals, especially if they are shedding. Mentioned in the blog, long ago: http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2011/06/01/pet-brush-for-dog-or-cat-by-miserybot

The main difference is that this one is in OpenSCAD. I could not get the original STL to import properly. This version prints a blank plug, and then the coin that you can glue on. If you have an STL of any logo or artwork, you should be able to replace the logo in the coin. For some reason, Skeinforge refuses to fill the square in the logo. Hmmm. Not that http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8786 isn't normal, just that it does not extrude along the surface normal. Both ways of extrusion can be useful, this one handles zig-zags correctly. Also, joining surfaces is seamless when the edge and inner control points are collinear. Only made possible by the brilliant work of WilliamAAdams.

I'm obsessed with boxes. I can't get enough. We don't have enough boxes on Thingiverse. Can someone design a spiral box? Also, I want to print boxes I can use every day around the house. The beautiful thing about 3d printing is that if you need something you make it. It would be nice if some of you crack designers would give us better boxes.

We study hydrogenated cations of two polycyclic hydrocarbon molecules as models of hydrogenated organic species that form in the interstellar medium. Optical spectra of the hydrogenated naphthalene cation Hn-C10H8^+ for n=1,2, and 10, as well as of the astrobiologically interesting hydrogenated proflavine cation Hn-C13H11N3^+ for n=1 and 14, are calculated. The pseudopotential time dependent density functional theory is used. It is found that the fully hydrogenated proflavine cation...

The agents are usually detected using cell culture. RD (Rhabdomyosarcoma) and L20B (L cells) are among the recommended cells by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for this purpose. Even though cell culture is the most common method used in diagnosing Enteroviruses in stool specimens, this particular method poses...

It is now practically the norm for data to be very high dimensional in areas such as genetics, machine vision, image analysis and many others. When analyzing such data, parametric models are often too inflexible while nonparametric procedures tend to be non-robust because of insufficient data on these high dimensional spaces. It is often the case with high-dimensional data that most of the variability tends to be along a few directions, or more generally along a much smaller dimensional...

It is conjectured that the existence of constant scalar curvature K\"ahler metrics will be equivalent to K-stability, or K-polystability depending on terminology (Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture). There is another GIT stability condition, called the asymptotic Chow polystability. This condition implies the existence of balanced metrics for polarized manifolds $(M, L^k)$ for all large $k$. It is expected that the balanced metrics converge to a constant scalar curvature metric as $k$ tends to...

We study the radiative decay rate and Purcell effect for a finite-size dipole emitter placed in a homogeneous uniaxial medium. We demonstrate that the radiative rate is strongly enhanced when the signs of the longitudinal and transverse dielectric constants of the medium are opposite, and the isofrequency contour has a hyperbolic shape. We reveal that the Purcell enhancement factor remains finite even in the absence of losses, and it depends on the emitter size.

We investigate revenue maximization problems in auctions for dynamic spectrum access. We consider the frequency division and spread spectrum methods of dynamic spectrum sharing. In the frequency division method, a primary spectrum user allocates portions of spectrum to different secondary users. In the spread spectrum method, the primary user allocates transmission powers to each secondary user. In both cases, we assume that a secondary user's utility function is linear in the rate it can...

We present a numerical investigation of the thermal and structural properties of the $^3$He-He II sandwich system adsorbed on a graphite substrate using the Worm Algorithm Quantum Monte Carlo (WAQMC) method (Boninsegni et al., Phys. Cut-set bounds on achievable rates for network communication protocols are not in general tight. In this paper we introduce a new technique for proving converses for the problem of transmission of correlated sources in networks, that results in bounds that are tighter than the corresponding cut-set bounds. We also define the concept of "uncertainty region" which might be of independent interest. We provide a full characterization of this region for the case of two correlated random...

The best known inner bound on the two-receiver general broadcast channel without a common message is due to Marton [3]. This result was subsequently generalized in [p. 391, Problem 10(c) 2] and [4] to broadcast channels with a common message. However the latter region is not computable (except in certain special cases) as no bounds on the cardinality of its auxiliary random variables exist. Nor is it even clear that the inner bound is a closed set. The main obstacle in proving cardinality...

We prove mixed $A_p$-$A_r$ inequalities for several basic singular integrals, Littlewood-Paley operators, and the vector-valued maximal function. Our key point is that $r$ can be taken arbitrary big. Hence such inequalities are close in spirit to those obtained recently in the works by T. Hyt\"onen and C. P\'erez, and M. Lacey. On one hand, the "$A_p$-$A_{\infty}$" constant in these works involves two independent suprema. On the other hand, the "$A_p$-$A_r$" constant in...

In this note we compare the a-invariant of a homogeneous algebra B to the a-invariant of a subalgebra A. In particular we show that if $A \subset B$ is a finite homogeneous inclusion of standard graded domains over an algebraically closed field with A normal and B of minimal multiplicity then A has minimal multiplicity. In some sense these results are algebraic generalizations of Hurwitz type theorems.

In this paper, the problem of designing network codes that are both communicationally and computationally efficient over packet line networks with worst-case schedules is considered. In this context, random linear network codes (dense codes) are asymptotically capacity-achieving, but require highly complex coding operations. To reduce the coding complexity, Maymounkov et al. proposed chunked codes (CC). Chunked codes operate by splitting the message into non-overlapping chunks and send a...
