macy's and nordstrom. investors liking the fact that macy's is going to close about 100 of its underperforming stores. how long will this hold last to the stock? is this a one day high or did anything you see indicate the beginnings of a turnaround for the company? bridget: i think there are two parts to what happened today. the first part is the closing of the 100 stores and i think that's a sustainable upside to the stock. you are saving a lot of cost in terms of rents and headcount when you shift toward shrinking the base and making it more profitable. and it's likely some of the stores getting close our stores that they own and sell and that could drive cash and i think that's a legitimate change in the story. saw the same store sales start to improve from the first quarter, i think people may be a little over exuberant on that one. there are two trends that have an impact in them. short term trends like whether the fact there have not then new apparel trends, that has definitely improved but same-stor

macy's is taking a leadership role here. you will see more announcements from other companies about accelerated store closinings an the reason because of the same-store sales. look at the numbers for the second quarter and what's been going on here. macy's down 2%, kohl's down 1.8%. kors down 7.6%. fossil down 3%. these are continuing down numbers from quarter over quarter. year over year. and the first quarter was even worse over all here. so here's your retail earnings numbers. macy's beat, reaffirmed their guidance. kohl's beat. cut their full-year forecast their numbers are above street consensus and that's why kohl's is to the upside. a little glow here from everybody else. the apparel makers on the upside. they'll be reporting later. finally want to mention, shares of peak energy, talking about getting all the cash flow under control, they're exiting a big position in the barnett shale. those wells, they're going to transfer the ownership elsewhere. they had significant negative cash flow. they're going to be paying wi
