donald trump's lawyers were seeking to have the lawsuits dismissed and insisted that donald trump said nothing to provoke the attack on the capitol. once the attack was under way, judge maeda asked donald trump's lawyers, once the attack was under way, wouldn't somebody who is a reasonable person say that's not what i meant? the judge was wondering why donald trump never said that to those people attacking the capitol. you're not doing what i wanted you to do. he never said that. donald trump's lawyers argued that anything said as president can never be the subject of a lawsuit. and as lawyers do, when they think one argument might fail, donald trump's lawyers offered a second argument, which is that donald trump's comments were simply part of doing his job as president. judge maeda raised the georgia case where donald trump called the secretary of state asking him to change the vote count in georgia. judge maeda asked donald trump's lawyers how is he carrying out the function of the presidency by calling a state official? donald trump's lawyers argued that his job is to make sure, quo

trump lost michigan. this was an effort to say effectively don't worry, as a state legislature, you can send an electoral college state of electors for trump, even though he lost the state. that's under your authority. you'll do that, right? the voice mail says we're having everybody send in fake electors from states that trump lost. the president asked me to call. he's counting on you. forgive me for saying it this way. it's weird that, that call is so lame. and the reason i say that is because -- i don't know that there is a punchy way to do a call like this. but this was a rote enough function of what the trump campaign was doing as of december 1st, 2020, that they had campaign randos leaving this kind of things on people's voice mails. hey, so and so, we're falsifying the election results tooverturn the election. give me a call back. that was clearly somebody exhausting from making calls all day long. i surmise from the tone. which isn't fair. but the benality of the effort tells you this isn't someth

trump's triplex apartment was only 10,096 square feet. it was signed by mr. trump. but the square footage is just the start. there's also this. the supporting data for mr. trump's 2015 statement reported ta t value of his triplex apartment was valued at $327 million. mr. weisselberg admitted that the valuation of trump's personal apartment amounted to an overstatement of, quote, give or take, $200 million. the error was, "give or take, $200 million." the most expensive apartment in the country was $169 million. trump said his apartment was worth almost double that. year after year in financial statements he said his apartment was worth nearly twice as much as the most expensive apartment in the country and it was three times larger than it actually was, which is wild and flagrant and almost impressively dishonest, and it does make you think back to his hand size at the debate. too on the nose, right? according to the attorney general, it's not just an interesting personality pa tholgy. it was part of the behavior pattern of trump and it was partly illegal. quote, si
