(jeremy farley, wythe county pio) this land here is dgif property and so dgif maintains the property but beyond that the actual monument, it was put by citizens and under the original agreement the citizens were going to maintain it. but like everything else, the citizens are aging. so, without taking ownership, the county is stepping in to help bring awareness to this memorial and it's history. (jeremy farley, wythe county pio) we've already got signs up on i-81 and now we're looking at putting in a kiosk here just to highlight the history. that kiosk is going to give different information, it's going to highlight different businesses. it's a community effort designed to promote what we have to offer. memorials like this one because it helps
