the caucus winners on the republicans, you have rick santorum. 2008, i got to be. 2000, george w. bush. 1996 and 19 88, bob dole. what percentage of the iowa population shows up? it varies tremendously. republican on the side is usually a little bit less than on democrats. in 2012 and 2008, republicans had approximately 125,000. this is about 600,000 republicans, rounding here. number in the the state. basically 2012 was a record turnout and so had 2008.
