talking upper 20's to the west at dulles. holding in the middle 30's for wind chill in the district. here's the colder air well off to the north and west of us. this is that core very cold air that's going to slowly try to make its way to our area. it's going to take a few days and we have a warm front and a cold front in between it. that's going to arrive for the upcoming weekend. satellite and radar, quiet and dry with high pressure overhead. that's what brought us the sunshine earlier in the day. this is our futurecast moving through the next 48 hours. high pressure, that moves on out of here. a warm front. that's going to lift to the north during the day on saturday. we could start off with a little bit of a wintry mix early on but then our temperatures will warm nicely and we'll see all rain and then that cold front, that's well to the west of us. that arrives during the day on saturday. excuse me, on sunday but ahead of that front, we'll see high temperatures around 16 degrees. here's the forecast for the overnight. clo

at dulles, 30 degrees. 27 at b.w.i. as well as in gaithersburg. 28 chilly degrees in manassas virginia. those high clouds that i was alluding to off to the west you can already start to see a little bit on satellite and radar. the next weather system bringing copious amounts of rain to spots like the chicago area and all the way back down into texas. on the northern extent of this system a little bit of snow. the system itself, will track eastward and it looks more likely that the storm system will track right over us. it's going to be pulling in some warmer air. so although we will start with a little wintry mix tomorrow, tomorrow evening, we'll eventually all change to rain. when the bulk of the moisture moves in it'll all be rain. we're not talking about a lot of snowfall accumulations or anything of that nature. i'll show you our future cast for the rest of the evening. nice and dry. the clouds increasing overnight. and this one computer simulation which is a little bit of an outlier but i wanted to show you, at 9:0

we have seen snow out here ever since we passed dulles airport about 25 or 30 minutes ago and it's light to at times briefly moderate snow out here. the snowflakes are small to medium in size just yet and the ground in leesburg starting to take on a little hint of that first coating of white. some of the snow on the side of the roads was here from before but you can totally tell that there are fresh snowflakes starting to add up on the especially. you can tell the treated surfaces and main roads certainly not having troubles yet but the sidewalks and side streets and the staircases are all going to be icing over first. you'll need to be extra careful on your way out and about for the rest of the afternoon. looks like we could solidly get an inch to maybe two inches of snow out here in loudoun county. we'll keep you posted. drive around the city of leesburg. if you see us give us a friendly wave. back to you, tom. >> chuck, looks great out there, and as we were saying, too that many of the roads have been pre-treated and a little above freezing. so it is melting on roadways. >> thank you.

dulles 4.2. gaithersburg has four inches and reagan national is 2.1. manassas at two inches and hagerstown coming in with about one inch of snowfall. so as the snow showers wind down now through the afternoon hours, we can get the sunshine peeking out there and temperatures getting maybe right around that freezing mark so there could be small areas that get a little bit of melting. temperatures will then be plummeting overnight tonight. that means we could have slick spots on the roadways as we head into tomorrow morning. let's head over to chief meteorologist doug hill now with more details on that little band that got real pesky for a lot of folks, doug? >> that was the story. we got the light snow and meteorologist steve rudin last night stood in this exact spot and said it's going to be horrible in the morning and it was. even more horrible because the bands formed up and started initially coming into the west along 66 and expanded from south to nailed several areas with temperatures well below freezing. and the rest is history. as jacqui gave you

dulles less than two mile visibility. it will continue to thicken in parts of the region. 33 in reston and 32 in rockville. at that freezing mark we can start to see the bridges and overpasses freeze up. so heads-up there. one of the other areas of concern tonight portions west virginia around martinsburg, 27 overnight, 27 in frederick, 27 in columbia. this is the area that saw the most snow from this storm, and i really think there will be some problems on some secondary roadways here as the melted snow from today does in fact freeze overnight tonight. then we get into a stormy pattern. the cold air is going to be in place as we move into the day on saturday. one storm system moves off the coast. a little bit of a nor'easter here. then the next system moves up on monday. both of these storms have potential for snow. i think the saturday storm could bring heavyier snow to parts of the area. i think the monday storm could bring snow to all parts of the area. so we've got a lot going on here. just take a look at the seven-d
