stephen tschida is live in an annapolis to tell us what he just learned there. what's the latest? >> i went back into the fire station and spoke with the captain russ davies just seven minutes ago. he was a bit more forthcoming one-on-one than he was during the news conference. we now know that those two bodies which were found today were discovered in the basement of this massive home but he did qualify that by saying the fire was so intense that the house literally co itself. the big question now is are these two bodies which were found today those of the adult owners of that home or two of their four grandchildren who are believed to have been in the house at the time of the fire? investigators including those from the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms began the meticulous painstaking and gruelling job of sifting the debris from a massive fire. an effort made all the more difficult by the knowledge the remains of six people including four children likely would be found here. >> i hope that they find those people soon. i really do. it's terrible. >> a search with a cadaver

we're following breaking news from annapolis. investigators recovered two more bodies from that scene of a mansion fire in annapolis. this a day after two other bodies were found in that debris pile. they have not been identified. monday's fire destroyed a 16,000 square foot home and it's believed that six people including don pyle his wife sandy and their four grandchildren were inside at the time. the cause of that fire is still under investigation. virginia governor terry mauliffe is out of a richmond hospital tonight. he spent three days at d.c. medical center after breaking seven ribs during an accident on a horse. that happened while the governor was in tanzania during a family trip. earlier today, mauliffe tweeted this. thank you to everyone for all of your well wishes over the past few days. i'm back at home and resuming my daily schedule. let's turn now to abc 7 storm watch weather center. we are tracking more winter weather heading our way. chief meteorologist doug hill here now to explain what to expect and when. doug?

maryland bureau chief brad bell live at the scene in annapolis with that part of the story for us this evening, brad? >> leon from the moment we broke the news early yesterday afternoon that it was a christmas tree that touched off this fire behind these gates i started getting e-mails from experts in fire safety engineering and they all said the same thing there were lessons to be learned by this tragedy. when news broke yesterday that the annapolis mansion fire was fueled by a dried out christmas tree, many experts in home fire safety had the same reaction. >> completely heartbreaking story because it's something that was totally preventable. >> long time prince george's county fire spokesman mark brady says his advice is keep a christmas tree inside for two weeks max. beyond that he repeats what investigators say about the fire which claimed six lives. a sprinkler system likely would have made what happened survivable. >> the best thing to have other than a working smoke alarm and in combination would be probably stand about an 85% chance of surviving a fire in your home. >> this de

reporting live in annapolis, jeanette reyes, abc 7 news. >> ok jeanette thank you. we want to get back to our top story this noon. crews that are on the scene of a fire that has injured at least two people. we already know one of them is a firefighter. this happened in the 1100 block of oak street northeast. sam ford is live there at this noon with what we know right now. sam? >> we are in the 1100 block and firefighters are still on the scene. residents described a frightening situation and two elderly people are grateful to be alive. firefighters arrived to find the four unit building fully engulfed. they said it was an extremely difficult fire because the place was so full of junk they had trouble maneuvering around it and the junk continued to see the flames and smoke. one firefighter was overcome and had to be taken to the hospital before firefighters arrived, a man visiting his sister that he heard people inside the building screaming for help. larry watson that man said he ran into the building and rescued two elderly people. a woman and her son. >> they were

a quick-moving fire consumed the home on childs point road in annapolis. fire officials say six people are unaccounted for. >> they reported fire on the first and second floor and through the roof already upon their arrival. >> reporter: this couple have lived in the neighborhood for years. they were awakened in the middle of the night and saw the flames. they were nearly in tears as they spoke about the fire. >> we heard two shots, the shot of flame shooting high in the sky and we thought, my god, what's that. >> probably can't be replaced. i'm sure they're insured but people with can not be replaced so there's a lot of heartbreak. it makes you wonder how quick things can change our lives. >> reporter: the fire quickly went to a fourth alarm, although firefighters got here fast they say that heat and flames were too intense to go in. they were alerted to the blaze at about 3:30 in the morning by an alarm company, and that was quickly followed by a 911 call from a neighbor. >> i don't get why a smoke detector or something wouldn't have woken them up or got
