because san francisco is so young. -- because san francisco is so young, it is riddled by faults. i have a map that shows the faults across the bay area and san francisco. the granddaddy of all of these is the san andreas fault. it is the longest. it can generate the greatest earthquakes. >> it is just south of san francisco. it goes offshore down here. >> from my house to the fault is about 3 miles on average. >> the closest area in san francisco to the fault is this area here in the southwest part of the city. people said that the closer you are, there are conditions that exacerbate issues. >> the fault's effect on development depends on the fault type and soil component. the san andreas is the main fault. there is the hayward fault. the difference between the two is that the san andreas is predominantly offshore. the hayward fault actually crosses beneath populated areas and poses a larger threat. as we speak, there is a 67% probability of a major earthquake on one of these faults in the next 30 years. it is of major -- high probability. it is a magnitude 6.5. the 1906 was 7.9.

we need to do a lot in san francisco to encourage young people and young families to stay in san francisco. i think we are missing out on a lot of our diversity when young families leave our city. we need to do all we can to be mindful of the needs of young families in the city. we mentioned housing. schools are a big deal. but also being able to be flexible with transportation and children. >> what is happening with crime in your district? give me your thoughts on how you think the police are doing with respect to crime in your district? >> i think we are very fortunate in district two. we have a number of great police captains that oversee the stations that touched district two. richmond and northern are the two major police stations that touched the district. we do have a lot of crime in district 2. both crimes against individuals but also against merchants along our merchant corridors. chestnut. union in particular has been hit. fillmore and sacramento. it is a big deal. we also have the break-ins. we need to be very mindful that people keep their iphones and laptops out of sight. but

as you know san francisco was the first u.s. city to ban plastic check out bags over four years ago. that ban only applied to supermarkets and to pharmacy chains, and the ordinance helped to reduce plastic bag litter in san francisco as you heard by 18% which was a great victory. it also reduced contamination in our collective recyclables and compost. although we do take great pride in being the first city to have banned plastic bags in the u.s. and are pleased with the impact that the original ordinance made, plastic bags continue to be a problem in san francisco. i would like to highlight a couple of those concerns. plastic bags cannot be recycled through our curb side or pickup program do the economics and are still the largest and most costly contamination. there by continuing to pose a threat and a real obstacle. and then finally plastic bags are continuing to be a threat to marine and wildlife. a 2010 study named

she attended san francisco state university in 1971. she became a student teacher and has fought for at the studies while earning degrees in economics, a process that is, and social work. getting her degree, she met her husband. they have raised four children in the mission. in the 1980's, eva and other mission community activists to join together for the san francisco voter education and registration project. she'd been organized the great boycott committee. she served as regional manager and a spokesperson of that organization until 2002. in 1988, the ufw co-founder was brutally beaten here in san francisco by a police officer. as a leader, -- there is a happy ending to this story. after a three-year effort, she worked diligently with the college and to ensure justice for delores and to ensure there was a change in the san francisco police department policies regarding police reaction to legal social protests. in 1994, she organized the cesar chavez street coalition. to change the name of army street to cesar chavez street. she led a

san francisco recreation and park department found 75 percent of all calls -- golfers are san francisco residence. the city decided to close sharp park, there several golf courses that are nearby and charge the same price. by encouraging that transition of the closure for sharp park, san francisco can help stabilize that bay area golf market by encouraging local golfers to play and the best in lincoln and improve the overall performance of the fund which could be invest in an -- could be invested in the lincoln park golf course and others in the area. i live in san mateo county as the child and had the opportunity to golf with my friends and family and what fun adventure would be created if we went to san francisco to golf. it would not like catalyze more time with love once, it would give me pride knowing as a san mateo resident that we were respecting that natural habitat of our native frogs and state and going to san francisco for a golf adventures. the ordinance increases access to affordable golf to bay area residents by providing all pacific residents with san francisco resident r

we have a wonderful city of san francisco. i know that we pride ourselves in being an international city. begins with celebrating all the diverse cultures and making sure everyone is recognized, that we have our education institutions reflect that, our cities, official events, reflected that but i know i have benefited greatly, not only as an attorney, but as someone who has worked in the city to have worked with so many leaders of the arab-american community. the business leaders have done very well here. knowing, also, the challenges that you face -- i also know there are so many examples of arab-american leadership in the technology world. just look at silicon valley and see how successful arab- americans have been. we are now recruiting those very companies to come to san francisco to make sure that we work with you for job creation. i am also very excited about so many small-business owners who are of arab-american descent. you have done so well in working in all of our different neighborhoods. i want to continue working

last week you may remember the city of san francisco told occupy san francisco that they could either take a place on mission street or they needed to leave the encampment. since that time it has been wait and see situation. the members of occupy san francisco did not want to leave that spot. a majority of them didn't want to leave. some say they want to take the place on mission street. the others say no. they went with the majority of what was going on. police gave them a week. we can come back out here live once again. you can see there is a big huge police presence. i will tell you one thing right now. earlier you see the clay pots behind us? earlier a lot of people took these clay pots and took some furniture and moved it into the street. that is when the problem took place right then and there. i'm not sure what happened with that. after awhile the people of occupy san francisco they were in the street and beating drums. everything seemed like a joyous situation. the other incident took place or something happened. i'm still trying to figure out what happened at that time. leadi
