in other words, a non-profit paid for by newt gingrich paid a for profit company-owned by newt gingrich $200,000. according to abc news, those payments were never dis -- disclosed on the charity's tax forms. we contacted a man named pastor jim garlow whose taken over the running of real from gingrich's spokesperson. pastor garlow told abc news real also had to pay gingrich communications full price for books and dvds they would sell. gingrich communications has denied that saying they got them at cost. a spokeswoman for the pastor told us the same thing. they toll the pastor as saying "my concern was, is there any way we can get these a whole lot cheaper". meaning books and dfds. he goes on we couldn't and we didn't. pastor garlow's spokesperson told us that it was in her word a misstatement. there are other questions about real that are potentially damaging to newt gingrich and may even make this a legal case. real's 2009 tax return showed that real spent 86% of what it took in. 86% on postage and mail service. that is on developing mailing lists and soliciting donations. now, add to t

newt gingrich. his campaign, as you may know, took a pretty big hit this week with the resignations of a number of his top staffers including his campaign manager. cnn deputy political director paul steinhauser is live in new hampshire, site of the debate. paul, good morning to you. everybody else might be putting this pressure on newt gingrich and saying he has to do well on monday night, but is he putting that same kind of pressure on himself? >> reporter: i'm sure quietly to himself he is. newt gingrich has been kind of defiant since most of his top staffers, advisers quit on thursday. he says he will endure on. he says he'll be at a speech tomorrow flight in los angeles and yeah, he says he'll be right here monday night for our debate, but t.j., a lot of questions for newt gingrich now. without a staff it's hard to campaign, let's be honest and a lot of his staff left, also raising money, not that easy to do. some of the staffers felt he wasn't committed enough to raise money and campaign. gingr

you know i don't blame the investigative team for looking into it because newt gingrich has done some shady things in the past for instance he has a nonprofit organization and he used funds specifically two hundred twenty thousand dollars for that nonprofit and then he put it into a for profit company that he runs so i don't i don't mind the investigative team looking into it and i question whether or not calista gingrich is the real reason why the staffers resigned but let's let's give them a little credibility let's say you know for the sake of this conversation that that's what the investigative team really found ok calista gingrich is very very difficult to work with you know she's the one who dictates the schedule she's the one who says that she does a lot of flights in the morning because she needs time to do her hair all right let's believe that for the sake of the conversation if that is the case and i do question it newt gingrich is the person who's campaigning to be president ok so he's the one who needs to figure out what the balance is ok i understand he would want to keep
