upcoming this week, we have several festivities related to martin luther king day. there will be a parade monday, january 15th. sfpd will attend and participate there's a town school m.l.k. freedom march january 12th from 9:30 to 11:00. there's also a annual m.l.k. march in golden gate park this friday and m.l.k. march on thirw saturday january 13th from 9:00 to 11:00. that is it for the significant events for this week. the last thing i have to report, an update, this was an request from commissioner hertz on our chapter 96 data analysis. i believe the issue was where are we in terms of data analysis ? the department and i have said several times that we're trying to secure private or independent research to help with that analysis. so we have two independent, one academic institution, one non-profit institution that we are in m.o.u. negotiations with. we hope to have that done in a very short amount of time. i was gone back and fourth with some of the language and we have an agreement with principle with one of the entities. the other one their attorneys are looki

i do want to acknowledge my amazing team who hosted last friday's martin luther king day celebration at the rec center. our staff just did an amazing job in organizing celebrations, legacy of dr. king. it included our annual rec centre, which was the 34th annual community celebration, but it also included a family-free swim day at the pool in bayview and three other pools around the city and a number of volunteer work parties around the city in honor of the national day of service. our recreation staff including bob, jackie, lorraine, and linda, our aquatic staff, our volunteered division all deserve kudos for helping us celebrate and remember the positive impact that dr. king's life had on our nation particularly at a time when our country could use reminding. i want to acknowledge and thank our speakers including the honorable brown, who gave an amazing speech and special shout tout margaret macarthur for her help in facilitating mayor brown's appearance. i want to thank our terrific police chief, chief bill scott, for coming to the event, bringing his team and for his remarks and

on january 15th, monday is a holiday but many of us will be in the martin luther king march starting at 11:00 a.m. at the cal tran station and this follows the meeting on the 24th but on the 26th, if anyone is interested, station five and you'll get at the next meeting deputy chief nicholson's report where she'll talk about work with the puc, some of us are meeting with them on awss issues, different options. i believe there's a hearing for awss- -- president cleaveland, your concerns and points. but on the 26th station five will have the topping off ceremony, basically when the steel has -- the steel completion of the project. that's our division two house. many of us will be there at 1:00 p.m. we'll provide you further detail. it's something that department of public works does with the contractor. but we have been invited as well. it's a milestone if you will related to the project. at the next meeting you'll get an update on where we're at with station five, 16, 35, the adf, all that will come in that report. that concludes my report. i wanted to ask for consideration at the end

many of us, including president cleaveland on january 15th participated in the martin luther king march from the caltrain station to yerba buena guards, so thank you for marching to us, and some of the members of the audience came with us, as well, so thank you very much. the deputies and i as well as assistant deputy chief rivera attended the labor manager meeting which is monthly with local 798 executive board. it's always a fairly productive exchange of ideas and topics, so we've been good of keeping that on a regular basis with local 798. on the 17th, and i know chief nicholson might highlight this in some of her reports, some of items that i'm mentioning, but we did met with the nrt advisory board on the 17th. we try to do that on a quarterly basis, and that was with assistant chief jeff columbini. this is the civilian nrt advisory board, and that's also a very productive exchange. the categories for us sort of all the work and the class that have been attended in the 2017 year and just different ideas for moving forward and making sure that that program, which is very vital, ai kn
