hawaii started empties ago and sanders will win alaska and washington state. but he still has a long way to any to catch up to hillary clinton in the over all delegate count. kristin fisher is live in seattle. senator sanders having a great night. but does he have enough or potential to catch up to hillary? >> reporter: it is it a good question. bernie sanders has momentum, but the math is really hard to see how it would go on his side. washington state, this is one of the most progressive states and sanders is one of the most progressive senators in the senate. bernie sanders would win the state. but what is surprising how he is winning. he's winning in counties where hillary clinton had hoped to win. he's winning in eastern counties and more rural counties where hillary clinton had campaigned earlier this week. turn out today was very high. the precinct in downtown seattle told me they are seeing record turn outs higher than 2008. another reason he has a lot of white liberal democratics in the state. and historically it is not clinton territory. obama won in

the same poll gives you a 30 percent lead over senator sanders. in another poll, the race in ohio is much tighter for the democrats. clinton still leading but only by nine percentage points . john casey pulled off a surprising result in michigan, could he turn that number around in ohio in his home state? >> the answer is yes john. i think actually john kasich has a much better chance of winning ohio then marco rubio does of winning florida. if you're going to compare the two candidates in their home state. so casey could winhis home state . he wasn't expected to win his home state. the last popularity rating i saw for him was 62 percent. you wouldn't think this would be close but it is and the polls show him a little behind. i think he can overcome that. rubio is another case entirely. he got to have great difficulty in winning florida, his own state. the democratic side, i do believe clinton will win florida easily. ohio however is a lot like michigan. let's not forget the disastrous performance of the michigan polls. 20 points on average for hi

bernie sanders wins utah, and hillary clinton wins arizona. joining us now from the fox news bureau in washington, d.c., daniel, the online editor for the "weekly standard." thank you for staying up late, or getting up early, whichever it is for you. >> great to be here. thank you. >> bernie sanders being called for him in utah. is that a surprise to you? i think it was like 74% or so to 22%? >> the margins are pretty high. much higher than expected. it was expected he would win some states. the problem is that it's not a very delegate rich state, like arizona, which he lost by a big margin. the problem bernie sanders has had for a while is hillary clinton has a very high lead in the pledged delegate account. it's very hard to overcome that. there aren't winner take all contests on the democratic side, it's all proportional. it's hard to make up lost ground. that's not to mention the super delegate which he is well, well short of, even competeding in that. so it's very hard to see how once again bernie sanders can hold something together and b

, sanders is trying to race for something else. those superdelegates that she's already won. to ed henry in milwaukee, wiscons wisconsin, on how that will work. all of a sudden he thinks he can woo these superdelegates? >> that's right, charles. it's a very delicate task. a very difficult task. it's been done before. it was done by barack obama in 2008 when hillary clinton was seen as inevitable. that sounds awfully familiar. and a lot of party bosses on the democratic side went to her early. and then flipped to obama as he started winning more and more caucuses and primaries. the challenge for sanders is yes, he had a good weekend last weekend. but he's got to ving together a lot more of those wins, and some of the wins have to be by a much bigger margin in the days ahead in places like new york in mid-april where there's a lot of delegates at stake. but if it's a close race, either wins or comes in second since it's proportional he's not going to be able to jump ahead of hillary clinton on the pledge delegates. if you are able to
