the further north and west that you go. could be looking at a little bit of a lull tuesday morning before the heavy rain starts to move in as we head into tuesday. again we're talking snow, sleet, freezing rain. a lot of components to this storm system. as we head further south here. we're looking at brief snow here, up to an inch with a change of rain happening during the afternoon with the lull monday night. and the heavy rain on tuesday, it's north and west where we're looking at the biggest impacts in terms of wintry precipitation with the most snow. three to six inches up towards the poconos. so very cold for tonight. clouds increase ahead of this storm system as we head into tomorrow snow overspreads the area in the afternoon. slowly transitions to rain for some spots. along the i-95 corridor. that will be occurring during the evening hours. you'll need to watch for slick spots in particular from philadelphia extending north and west. so again icy conditions through the evening hours, and then it looks like finally ev

the rain back off to the west will be here too. so we will be dealing with a rainy evening commute for tomorrow later in the day. morning hours not so much but we could see some showers. right now we're dry, going to stay that way but the rain off to our west is approaching, the snow that's going to stay to our north. here is the flood watch for tomorrow. it's pretty much everyone from northern delaware up to mercer county, interior new jersey, north and west of philadelphia and into the lehigh valley. so that's the flood watch for tomorrow. these are the areas that don't need as much rain in order to flood because we saw the snow on the ground. so north and west of philadelphia from about a half inch to close to an inch possible, and then we look at chester and also parts of berks county, these areas we could see a half inch to an inch here, so some flooding in those areas expected. northern parts of delaware into interior sections of new jersey we could see about a half inch of rain tomorrow. but some spots we could see heavier r

the wind is west-southwest at 16. and it has been gusting up well over 50 miles an hour and close to 60 miles per hour in some spots earlier today as that line moved through. we're in the upper 40s north and west. even 41 in mount poconos. so it's not very chilly. even behind this cold front that came through dur stg day today. we were up near 60 before. so we have dropped. but we have dropped the temperatures that are still kind of mild for this time of the year. and this is camelback. and they've had a rough going. they had some ice and then some rain last night. and then some real heavy rain this afternoon. and the warm temperatures too. not a pretty sight. and look at these temperature differences. 20 to 30 degrees warmer than at this time yesterday. that is quite a change. and the wind has changed too. when we were seeing the strong wind gusts today, it was out of the southeast. now the wind has turned into the west. we're gusting 20 to 30 miles an hour. but no longer 40 to 50 miles an hour like we were earlier.

here is a look at the radar as that system you see out west approaches. the first alert weather team has you covered. we begin with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. when will it start? >> in parts of the area it will take a few hours, probably not until at least 8:00. and then it's going to be light and then the temperatures are going to be above freezing so initially it will melt. but the first alert goes from tonight into wednesday morning. this is an extended period of time, it's not going to be snowing constantly, there will be periods of snow. and at times low visibility. not all the time. the heaviest we think it's going to be late tuesday and into tuesday night. with the greatest chance of accumulation. and more very significant coastal flooding is likely. we have winter storm warning for the philadelphia aerks down through central delaware, the entire southern half of new jersey. nothing on the radar close by, but it's starting to make a little progress from the washington baltimore areas and some of that is not reaching the ground.

even north and west where the temperatures are cooler in the 30s. it's raw this morning, the rain coming down, the strong gusty winds we're expecting this afternoon, they'll wait into the afternoon and evening hours. right now, 37 degrees in chalfont. the rain has been moving through a line of showers, extends from berks county into lehigh county. most of montgomery and bucks county getting that light rain, doylestown seeing rain, northeast philadelphia, you've got it and that line extends into moorestown and burlington county. evesham, light rain in tabernacle. steadier rain during the day and that line, right through the atlanta area is what we'll be watching for the potential for severe weather late this afternoon. 11:00 in the morning, that line is on the move. by late this afternoon and this evening, this is what it develops into. look at the heavy downpours for allentown and reading and into delaware and south jersey. heavy downpours for 9:00 hour in philadelphia. extending into delaware and south jersey and sweeping through the area. most of

the main danger is with the line of thunderstorms back to the west. first of all, this cluster of storms going right over cumber lansdale county, moving north at 75 miles an hour. i don't know if i've ever seen a thunderstorm moving that fast in this area that wasn't related to a hurricane. this is just phenomenal type of wind pattern high up that's likely to cause a lot of damage regardless of whether you have tornado or not. it one of the nights you want to take in outdoor furniture, trash cans. you may want to reconsider some of the trips in the cars this evening as that line comes in. this particular storm continues to move like i said at 75 miles an hour to the north. and the core of this storm is pretty strong. you can see how high the storm goes and some of the purple giving an indication of hail shaft that is in this particular storm. we can sometimes see circulation with the storm that would indicate there was a tornado. so far we're not seeing that. but we are seeing tornadoes along this line which, of course, is the most severe part of this

currently 38 in philadelphia, mid-30s north and west. 37 in mont holly. mid-30s in wildwood and atlantic city. the cold air across the northeast will start to lift to the north and weiss making way for the warmer temperatures. in the upper 50s in kansas and this warm air will lift toward our area and bring us a nice couple of days. we have a lot of warm air and dry air. not a lot of rain or snow in the nation's midsection. that's going the keep the storm track off to the north. we keep things quiet as we head into tonight and sunday looking dry as well. cold to get the day underway but the temperatures jump up quickly. upper 50s nearly across the board and a run at the lower 60s. dry and mild sunday night and monday. through the course of the morning a weak front is approaching to bring in showers monday morning. not looking widespread or heavy. and it looks like it will clear out by the afternoon without really dropping the temperatures a lot. even as we head into monday we could be looking at lower 60s as well. a couple of warm days for the end of the m

temperatures, we're in the teens north and west of philadelphia. right now 22 in bensalem, 22 in the city. as we go to the south really not much of a temperature change there. we're mainly in the lower 20s, 20 degrees in glassboro, 20 in atlantic city, 21 degrees in millville. so we're looking at scattered snow showers up in the poconos, camelback mountain where it is 13 degrees. winds will be picking up as we move through the day. so we have a wind chill warning up here in the northern part of our viewing area, and that's going to remain tonight into tomorrow. every where else philadelphia north and west and south and east we have a wind chill advisory. so that's advising you that with the wind chill factored in it's going to feel like below zero as we move through saturday night into sunday morning. so the wind chill right now, factored in, we got negative 3 up there. minus 3. below zero is what it feels like. feels like just about single digits or close over tory where else and as i said those winds will be increasing as we move on through our d

and you can see it's dropped into the 40s north and west. those are mild temperatures, even 43 at mount pocono so some of that snow is getting eaten away and we're still near 60 degrees in atlantic city at the airport. the airport hits 64 yesterday and set a record and a lot of places going to set records come wednesday. you can see as we go through the night tonight in philadelphia the temperatures are going down but staying above freezing. so, by the time you get up it's not going to be that cold. cool even this morning. the flood watch is for wednesday into thursday for much of the area, and even some of the rivers could potentially be threatened. especially in northern areas that still have a lot of snow on the ground. you melt that snow it's like getting that much more rain. you can see this area of rain coming right through the area right during the afternoon rush. some of it is on the heavier side. that orange indicates some heavy rain, it just went through a portion of camden gloucester county, going to pemberton now. another area of

it extends north and west on the lighter side. but phoenixville seeing a good clip of snow. we have the rain/snow line across salem, wilmington seeing light snow fall and this rain/snow line is to the west of vineland and we expect these areas to kind of continue staying as rain with temperatures warmer. dover seeing the rain, georgetown seeing heavy rain, then we have areas of snow trying to mix in. through tonight periods of snow, some moderate to heavy. that will be lowering visibility. heavy enough with temperatures below freezing. that could certainly be sticking as we go late into tonight. speaking of temperatures, here they are. 31 in pottstown. that's below freezing. philadelphia 35, wilmington 32. these are the areas with untreated roads that we could see the snow sticking to so be careful if you're driving. for the rest of this evening. 6:00 p.m., the snow around still, 34 degrees, by 8:00 p.m., steady 34, we still expect that by 10:00 p.m. not a major drop around the philadelphia area but still a chance for snow showers by 10:00. then we're looking ahead to a much

but temporarily you can see the west wind followed by the southerly wind. we saw the southeast wind during the morning just ahead of that line of heavy rain. 20 to 30 miles per hour wind gusts pretty consistent across the area. and this is the line that caused all of the problems here. it was moving at least 60 miles an hour at one point. so there is definitely pretty strong winds. a few thousand feet up, pushing that line eastward. just brace right through here in the matter of minutes. that's when we got that wind damage. and everything that mitch has been showing you this afternoon probably occurred within minutes of each other. the radar showing absolutely nothing out there. but we still have a little bit of flooding to contend with. some on the brandywine creek. a little bit above flood stage. fortunately, the heavy rain moved out. christina river, a little bit above flood stage. water receding, and some other places in berks county and chester, perkiomen creek, places that we normally watch out for, close to flood stage. but not quite there. temperatu
