of -- ♪ that's a mystery imagine ruben when he meets his farm he'll just holler ooh-la-la how are you going to keep them on the farm after they've seen paris ♪ >> the verse to that song says that ma and pa are talking and this is what pa says to ma. she wants to welcome junior home and she's so happy he's coming and nd pa who is wiser recognizes this says how you going to keep him down on the farm. there's also a song about a soldier who comes home and goes back to work in his father's factory, running the factory for his father and his captain comes home looking for a job. and so it's a song of revenge, comic revenge. and there's another wonderful comic song from 1919. an irish couple goes down to washington square to watch the troops march up 5th avenue and brings the a.e.f. home and they're as proud as they can be because look, they say, they ere all out of step but jim.
