william la jeunesse is digging into the story from los angeles. hello, william. >> reporter: martha, other countries face similar problems though not on this scale. africans seeking asylum in spain and italy, afghans going to greece, iraqis going to germany. everyone handles immigration differently, giving women, children, families a bus or plane ticket to city of choice isn't one of them. the u.s. isn't the only country faced with a flood of illegal immigrants and unaccompanied minors seeking asylum. italy turns back many boats carrying illegal immigrants, including minors arriving from albania and africa. those that make it are taken to camps. some are returned home. others live on the streets. in greece, illegal immigrants are kept in detention camps. children housed alongside adults n 2012, 8,000 syrians sought asylum in greece. other thanly two were approved. eu installed 20-mile barbed-wire fence on turkish border with bulgaria. it reduced immigration there from 2,000 a month to 300. france denies 90% of al asylum requests. unaccompanied chi

trace gallagher picks up the story live from los angeles. what do you know? >> happened at a san diego strip mall. the wrong place at the wrong time for the alleged car jacker. he got into the car with the mother and child and drove away for a short distance but he hit a pole and that's all the time the bystanders neededed to jump in and help. you can see one gets in the back seat. two at the window. they yank him out of there. he's kicking and screaming the whole time. resisting. they throw him down to the ground and subdue this guy. there was a guy across the street that videotaped this whole scene. he didn't know what he was taping. listen to him. >> choking out the driver and there were a couple other people at the window that were grabbing the keys from him. i'm just trying to figure out what's going on. it's great that people will stand up for each other. that won't happen in a lot of other neighborhoods. >> so when the police arrived, the suspect continued to resist arrest and so guess what happens? the bystanders jump back in and help the police subdu

that's about an hour east of los angeles. we spoke to one member of the congregation who says that last night there was a meeting of about 150 members of the congregation and it was a very heated meeting. it mirrored what we've been seeing out here in murrieta between protesters and supporters. in the end we're told the priest decided they would take 25 of these immigrants in. they're going to help house them for at least a month, gretchen. >> all right. will carr reporting live for us in california. thanks much. >>> before president obama heads to texas tomorrow, he's writing congress asking for 3.7 billion bucks in immigration aid. a majority of those funds, nearly 2 billion, would go to the department of health and human services for medical care for the thousands of unaccompanied children currently at our border. 1.1 billion would go toward actually deporting adults and kids. our next guest has toured these overcrowded detention centers just recently and says the only way to stop the flood of people coming across the bord

of illegal immigrant children coming across our border often unaccompanied there is reports out in los angeles, one agency is placing ads in local newspapers looking for foster families to take in the children and promising $6,000 a month or more in reimbursements for that service. the ad claims that in as little as 45 days you can become a certified foster care provider. that agency is now responding to those reports saying this. in relation to the amount of pay being mentioned, to clarify, a qualified foster parent is paid out differently based on state you live in. it's a state that typically sets total dollar amount per chide and dependent on the child's age that eligible and qualified foster parent can receive per month. we're merely following standards in the state of california. that is one headline out of california today as big question remains what exactly will happen to these women and children who are now in our country illegally? what is next for them? a little later this hour we'll talk to a supervisor saying feds are potentially trying to bring illegal immigrants to his
