we have information here as well from the ronald reagan ucla medical center. they received three male victims from the lax airport shootings, one arrived in critical condition and two are listed in fair condition. the hospital has sent out its appreciation to the community and they are awaiting to get more information to the public regarding these victims here. but, the terminal itself is still closed. faa says it's a fluid situation and at this point it's a minute by minute -- update on what will happen with flights both those arriving and departing here. we spoke with a number of eyewitnesses who told a similar story of hearing gunshots ring out in the airport, a crowded airport. one person we spoke with at the top of the hour said he was around 150 people when they essentially either hit the deck or ran. he was able to exit an emergency exit and ended up on the tarmac to speak to the police presence right after this man, an innocent passenger was handcuffed because everyone as officers are rushing in is getting looked at, someone now on the tarmac through a

we know there was one news conference from ucla medical center where they had three people injured, one of them critically, a couple of them gunshot wounds. but we don't know the specifics yet. a lot of what is going on is privacy concerns as they notify the family and get permission to release some of the information. even the numbers, the airport authority said earlier today seven people injured, six transported to the hospitals. we'll see if we get an update on that in the news conference later this hour. >> many thanks. let's get right to jane wells. she joins us live from l.a.x. good evening, jane. >> reporter: hey, larry. traffic slowly getting back to normal. dozens of flights canceled. hundreds of departures and arrivals delayed. terminal 3 where the shooting happened remains closed as well as the parking lot. airlines operating out of that terminal moving to other terminals which are slowly reopening. baggage abandoned during the evacuations can be retrieved at the baggage care sells. but this shutdown today is going to have ripple effects across the country for travelers and f

he is said to be in critical condition at the ucla medical. we believe that all of the people who were shot, all of the people he shot, were employees of the it tsa. one of whom was killed, three of whom were wounded, with varying degrees of severity of their injuries. but that he didn't shoot anyone else. one telling thing is what a witness said, who talked earlier today to msnbc, who said that the witness was approached by the gunman who said, do you work for the tsa. so it would seem to be a combination of anti-government views and some kind of grudge against the tsa. now, there had been some initial reporting from some news organizations that this suspect had a connection to the tsa. that was perhaps an off-duty or former employee, but these federal officials we've talked to all say that's not the case. they have found no indication that this person had had any connection with the tsa. no indication that we can find that this person was on any kind of known list of people with strong anti-government views. none of the groups that track the

she is still listed in critical condition at ucla medical center. and the l.a. county coroner has confirmed tsa worker gerardo hernandez died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. he's the first tsa official to die in the line of duty since the agency was created in 2001. >> and in the frantic moments after gerardo hernandez was shot and killed, airport police reacted very quickly. they were 60 seconds behind ciancia, but could that reaction time have been quicker? could armed tsa agents have prevented something as horrendous as what played out at terminal three on friday. eric holder said this morning they will need to reassess after the investigation is complete. >> the investigation obviously under way, and part of that investigation will be a review of the security measures that were in place. not only at l.a.x. but i think a review of the security arrangements that exist in other airports as well. the function of the tsa is to insure that people can board planes safely. take flights safely. the responsibility for protecting airport security is not a ts ar
