but hearst went to the 1907 sales that were held in white's house. and bought a number of pieces. including in the left hand slide this ceiling, which had been in white's drawing room. it actually is a composite of a couple of different paintings. the center med dal yan of the -- center medallion of the angels, it's a painting from the 17th century. the virtues were painted much later in the 18th century. it was doubtless white put them together. he hung a chandelier from the center, when this was in his drawing room. he also -- probably know, he crusaded for american tariffs to be reduced so people could buy. he acted as a art dealer as well as architect. he bought this mantle piece which has the coat of arms of the family, he bought it in france then built it into charles barney's mansion in new york. when barney died and the house was demolished hearst actually , bought it many years later in 1922 and gave it a place in san simeon. william randoph hearst was the same kind of collector that stanford white had been. he specialized in pottery, stain glass pieces, lots of furniture

kristen welker is at the white house for us. kristen, how serious is this and do you have a rundown of the cars being recalled? >> reporter: we do have a rundown. this is very serious. officials are urging the public to take this very seriously announcing the recall of more than 2 million vehicles that could potentially cause airbags to deploy inadvertently, as you said. here's a look at those vehicles. the new recalls include acura mdx, dodge vipers jeep grand cherokee, honda odyssey, pontiac vibe, toyota corolla, toyota matrix and toyota avalon models made in the early 2000s. there's a defective chip. the national highway traffic safety administration said that some of the vehicles initially fixed, about 40 of them continued to show those inadvertent airbag deployments. now, while these recalls are not related to that issue involving vehicles recalled over the takata corp. airbags, about 1 million of the vehicles were a part of a separate takata recall. the regulators stress that there are no known fatalities related to this i

i think it comes from the white house and its allies. if not to working as a direct tool or means for suppression of the right of free speech. now, the other issue with the i.r.s. also showing its dysfunction relates to the tax compliance of i.r.s. employees. and, in fact, the compliance level of federal employees all across our government. as of september 13, federal employees were delinquent on $3.4 billion in taxes. yep, that's right. 1,500 treasury employees were delinquent owing close to $10 million. now, while in the grand scheme of federal finances this is a very small amount -- i understand that -- it's tremendously galling and sends a terrible message to taxpayers to know that many of these employees were awarded bonuses bonuses -- they were awarded bonuses -- even though they owed back taxes. let me be perfectly clear any employee who deliberately ignores the process and procedures for fulfilling their tax obligations like every other american, must be held accountable. this is a basic principle upon i think we can all agree. w

he was speaking after an unmanned quad copter crashed early on monday in the white house compound. the national geospatial intelligence agency revealed in a statement on tuesday that the man controlling the drone when it crash landed is an employee of the agency. the agency said the man was off duty and the man's work has nothing to do with drones. the employee has reportedly told investigators he was playing with the drone and flew it by accident into the white house grounds. president obama was visiting india when the accident occurred and no damage was reported. he suggested in an interview on cnn that rules on flying drones must be introduced to ensure both safety and privacy. in addition to people buying drones for private use leading online retailer amazon and other firms are pushing ahead with unmanned aircraft to shorten delivery times for their merchandise. the u.s. federal aviation administration has issued some guidelines restricting where and how users can fly drones. but it's still working toward crafting a comprehensive regulatory framework. >>> we have breaking news
