i'm amy goodman with juan gonzalez. >> welcome to all our listeners and viewers from around the country and around the world. a sweeping set of changes to the new york city police department's controversial stop and frisk program has been put on hold. in august, u.s. district judge found theindlin program unconstitutional, saying police had relied on a "policy of indirect racial profiling" that led officers to routinely stop "blacks and hispanics who would not have been stopped if they were white." while she did not halt the use of stop and frisk, judge a federal appointed court monitor to oversee a series of reforms, including a pilot program that would require officers to wear cameras on their bodies to record their interactions with the public. she ordered a joint remedial process to solicit public comments on how to reform the department's tactics as well. the city appealed the judge's ruling saying it made officers passive and scared to frisk suspects and on thursday he got what was hoping for, and much more. a sec

i'm amy goodman with juan gonzalez. >> welcome to all our listeners and viewers from around the country and around the world. a year ago yesterday, on november 6, 2012, tens of millions of americans went to the polls to reelect president obama. on that same day -- thousands of miles away -- a 39-year-old afghan farmer named mohammed qasim disappeared after being arrested by u.s. special forces. he was never heard from again. months later and afghan shepherd saw feral dog digging a human remains now believed to be the farmer's. his decaying body was found just outside a base used by a team of u.s. special forces known as the a-team. the body was found just weeks after u.s. special forces were compelled by the afghan government to leave the base and it will occasions of torture and murder. more and more bodies were soon found just outside the base located in wardak province. in total, afghan officials say they have uncovered the bodies of 10 afghan man, all of whom disappeared after being arrested by u.s. special forces.

i'm amy goodman. we continue our conversation on slavery. we are joined by a woman who uncovered her ancestors were the largest slave trading family in u.s. history. katrina brown is with us. she documented her boots in the film "traces of the trade." grandmother traced back. i was in seminary when i got a booklet in the mail that you vote for all of her grandchildren. she shared our family history, all the happy days. she also explained that the anthony, camemarc to bristol as a sailor in 1944, and then she wrote, i haven't stomach enough to describe the ensuing slave trade. what hit me hard was the realization that i already knew knew but somehow buried it along the way. what no one realized in my family was that the dewolf's were the largest slave trading family in u.s. history. they brought over 10,000 africans to the americas in chains. half a million of their descendents could be alive today. >> a clip from "traces of the trade." aired on pbs in 2008, she went on to found the tracing center on histories and legacies of slavery to inspi
