Part one of my two hour special episode about this swell guy here. The focus is mainly on single release mixes and I worked long and hard on the construction and segues in this one as I had waited two years to finally attack Bowie as a show subject. A lot of this first part is made up of lesser known early singles and it has some hard-rockin' sequences, so, as usual, Turn It Up ! And don't miss Part Two of this Bowie Fest here:...

Another episode that has a music genre theme - this time out, being the concept of British Psychedelia , with a few non-Brit elements thrown in because I couldn't help but use 'em. Also it is rooted in the 1960s. The full list of artists is up there in the TOPICS section, because, you know, the metadata. As usual, turn it up, this is another PARTY show with the emphasis mainly on rocking tunes and faster beats. Enjoy!

Here comes another listener favorite. A lot of careful editing and craftsmanship went into the making of this show. A number of rare tracks (such as material from the making of "Her Satanic Majesty's Request") and material reaching from the 1960s through the 1970s. A great deal of quality Stones is crammed into this one-hour show (or, "A trip down memory lane." as one listener described it - which it is, but given my usual special touches).

A one hour tribute to vintage sound effects records. I've included a few really old ones from 78 rpm discs, but mostly long-players from the 1950s and 60s. This was a bear to put together, the result of many downloads of old records and then hours of sifting sounds out of them and assembly. I sat on this particular episode for many weeks before assembling it, as I often do - waiting for strong inspiration to make it come alive for me, also I was concerned as usual with how it would all "gel" together, if at all. I tend to not want to do musician theme shows as merely "music cut followed by music cut", so I searched out a lot of interesting EXTRA vocal and non-musical bits to make it fun for me and I like the final outcome on this one! Ahhh, like a breath of salty sea air, comes this wonderful episode devoted to one of my favorite artists: Martin Denny ! He popularized the new genre of " Exotica " back in 1959 (on records, anyway) based on the success of his live act in Hawaii. In my opinion, he did it better than anyone, although I do enjoy a lot of the records that he inspired. I also feature a number of cuts from his later period of more "straight" jazz records, which employ his usual minimalist style...

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later - here I am with yet another darned show revolving around the Fabs. The second hour of my two-part special episode profiling David Bowie and specifically the mixes featured on his single releases. Along with  producer Tony Visconti talking about the making of the song Heroes , the show features a brand-new acapella remix / edit of Space Oddity and a ripping drum and bass mix of Stay . As I often say: Turn It Up! and enjoy the wild segues and vocal fragments that I wove together in this labor-of-love episode. And be sure to enjoy Part One of this Bowie Fest...

Another "first in a series of" type episode, in this case "Celebrity Records", albums from people that you might not even KNOW made more than one record. I fell in love with Mr. Meredith's "Songs and Stories of the Gold Rush" album many years ago, and have DJ'd bits of it for a long time. Here was a chance to feature the entire record, along with some cuts from another one of his, and bonus pieces from some OTHER celebrities who would fit comfortably into this...

Good ol' HARRY NILSSON is back in another show devoted to his work! This one has two main themes: first, we'll hear most of the songs from the soundtrack lp of The Point , his 1971 masterpiece, followed by selections from the QUADROPHONIC version of his most famous record Nilsson Schmilsson , also from 1971, specifically the REAR left and right channels isolated for your enjoyment! Turn it up and enjoy the party!

As a long time Batman collector, especially record albums, I have often DJ'd sets of Bat-covers and ephemera, and here is my latest version. I have a great fondness for cheapo Batman rip-off lps made to cash in on the 1966 craze so we'll hear some of those, as well as a number of "legitimate" and official products. Enjoy this hour of Bat-Madness !

Here is a nice set of vintage (1950s-1960s) country songs and novelty numbers that helped shape my guitar/vocal presentation style. Plus -they are delightful and fun to party to. A Country Party Set, and I have a LOT more to present in this wide genre, so stay tuned.

In this special episode we present the classic Firesign Theater " Dear Friends " series show " Big Brother is Washing " from September 19th, 1970, with famed engineer The Live Earl Jive . I've always adored this particular series of programs of theirs and am pleased to re-present one here on the radio in Western North Carolina, as they need all of the surrealism that they can get!

Largely based around the excellent compilation cd All Shook Up , tonight's show brings an hour of reggae-flavored Presley treats , complete with two brand-new Elvis remixes I made just for this show, as well as a custom introduction and other goodies. Turn it up , of course, as this one's a doozy! Full list of artists is found in the TOPICS section above.

Who needs an excuse to wallow in cuts from the first three Steppenwolf lps? Not me! I did slip one song in from their fifth record, but this is primarily pieces from the first three albums, and quite a fun set at that! Definitely turn this one up nice 'n' loud!

The first of two parts of a very fun complete radio show by the terrific Flo & Eddie ( Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman ). This was the beginning of their second season of doing the " By the Fireside " show and they brought on their pal Harry Nilsson to spin some records, read PSAs, and generally goof around; as well as playing a bunch of Nilsson. One thing about F&E I forgot to mention on the show is that along with their being the lead vocalists in the Turtles , and singers in...

This show is mainly designed to showcase an interesting 1960 album by Duke and His Jamaica Five , which prominently features banjo playing, so I paired it with some work by one of my favorite banjo artists, Uncle John Patterson , and the hoedown began!
