Herein we find the classic 1956 adaptation of Aldous Huxley 's Brave New World , as narrated by the author, with original music composed and conducted for the radio by Bernard Herrmann . A one hour tribute to vintage sound effects records. I've included a few really old ones from 78 rpm discs, but mostly long-players from the 1950s and 60s. This was a bear to put together, the result of many downloads of old records and then hours of sifting sounds out of them and assembly. The final result features at least 75 tracks - a new record for my show! Turn It Up-! It is after all Doctored for Super-Stereo!

During my time making a weekly television show in San Francisco (1999-2007) I got into the habit of using an old TV broadcasting gimmick that I call the "Clip Show", in which elements of already-shown episodes are re-cut to make a "new" installment of a show. Whilst trolling through my archive of past radio shows recently, it occurred to me that some disparate episodes might be fun to jumble together in an unfamiliar way, thus creating a "Cut-Up" show, in an almost...

It took five+ years, but I finally got around to doing a whole episode featuring Disney records. I tried to find as many little-played and obscure ones as I could, and some personal faves. I accidentally repeated one piece (the second iteration sung by Fess Parker ), but other than that - this one came out really good, after a LOT of pre-production work. A second raid on the 78 rpm collection at the Boston Public Library 's Archive page , where I went on another long fishing expedition to bring up pieces for this show. As will happen, there was a lot of material mined for the episode that didn't make the final cut, but there are still a wealth of nice records featured. I did some click removal here and there, but not much, and compressed the heck out of most of the cuts to boost the loudness for broadcast - but not changing the overall sound of...

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later - here I am with yet another darned show revolving around the Fabs. In this instance, I went for inspiration to a classic radio show from 1984 by the Big City Orchestra on the Over the Edge program (which can be heard in all of its glory here ), where our theme that night was entitled simply Beatles Hell , and which was later edited down into a one-hour cassette release of that name by the band. That program inspired the later work begun in 1989-90...

Well, here's another whacked-out episode! I had been compiling a folder of very random audio and music for the last year and as my birthday in September neared, I realized that with the addition of a bit more material, that folder could be the ingredients for a radio show. While listening through the stuff in the order that it randomly fell in the folder, either alphabetical or numerical, I hit on the idea of just DJing it all in the totally random order that it was already in, which led to...

All through the first half of this year I heard about the amazing emergence of the "17-Year Cicadas" who had been dormant for 17 years and were now going to come out in 2021 in huge numbers. Well, bring it! I grew up in an area thick with cicada pals. And now it is nearly August and I haven't heard or seen any at all here in Western North Carolina where I now live. To assuage this disappointment, I had an evil thought the other day to do a whole radio show devoted to their noisey...

Robo of B.C.O . here: This show was an opportunity to air some of the original music that I made in late 2009/early 2010 for the several radio programs and live gigs that I did while I visited San Francisco for the Big City Orchestra 's 30th Anniversary festival at the end of January 2010. Much of the material was made to be used as "backings/underscores" and ideas to be played live on top of by the group, and some were finished pieces used in radio shows. Three seasons ago I did an all- Lee Hazlewood show as my very first episode and now comes the triumphant return of one of my favorite artists! In this show we focus on his 1968 to 1971 period, or, the LHI years. As always, most of the material is written by Hazlewood. See the TOPICS list above for the guest female vocalists in this set. TRACKLIST: 01  Bye Babe 02  Nobody Like You 03  The Night Before 04  Victims of the Night 05  Come on Home to Me 06  Chico 07  Won't You Tell Your Dreams...

In a continuation of our ORGAN series we bring you the second in our all-organ shows. Fewer artists crammed in this time around, and mainly a focus on three lovely organ records, with the artists listed above in the TOPICS section. Turn it up - lots of quiet dynamics in this episode. Enjoy!

The Neighborhood Bass Coalition are back! Another hour of experimental (and mostly live gig) noise and breaks from the NBC , in the period from 1996 to 2002; earlier stuff, in other words. This set came out very nice, I think (even out of the three or so shows where I've showcased this band), and features some rare unreleased studio cuts, too! Crank it up!

Somehow I made this episode back in the late Summer of 2019, and then filed it away and forgot about it. I discovered it again when I was preparing another Holiday show a few weeks ago in November. There are a number of original pieces of mine in here along with an assortment of eclectic Christmastime audio goodies from all over. 2019 has been an action-packed year and the Holiday Season has been no less dramatic for us, for good and bad, happy and sad. Let's all help each other and have a...

Yessir - I'm back with another all- Cash compilation, this one based around the three records above from 1959-60, and featuring a new JC-Inspired Station ID at the top of the show. I steered towards the more obscure pieces from this period, and we'll hear most of the first side of the unusual concept album Ride This Train . Turn It Up! Well, here I am entering my fourth year on the air with my third visit from the delightful Mr. Denny. This show contains basically all of these two records - I think I left off one piece from " From Maui with Love " due to time restriction. I also included two bits of Martin Denny talking about his music - the only clips of him speaking that I could find online at this time. Crank it up - Enjoy!

Hi-de-ho y'all - yup, indeed 'tis Mr. Ives a-singin' for the kiddies, with all of one of his famed compilations of songs and excerpts from another, and we have Carol Channing bringing up the back end of the show to fill it up with some of her terrific 1972 Winnie the Pooh album! A lot of fun songs in here!

At the last minute in 2019 I decided after all to do a Holiday episode when I remembered this Johnny Cash double lp that I've always enjoyed, even though it is REALLY Jesus-y. I love doing spoken word shows and this project has a LOT of Johnny talking and telling the Christ story and many fun songs as well. I particularly like the sections where everything just stops for some ambient sound like water, wind or JC walking around Jerusalem and thereabouts. It was the 1973 soundtrack for the film...

I finally got around to using those three old Rhino Records soul compilations that I transferred from cassette in 2008 or so and they are very fine indeed, with plenty of cuts left over for a future Part Two of this genre. See the TOPICS section above for a full listing of the great artists included herein! Turn it up and PARTY DOWN.
