In Mark 7, Jesus calls the Pharisees hypocrites for their finding fault with the disciples eating with unwashed hands. Rev. Dr. Ken Henry uses this and other passages from Mark 7 to show how Jesus' ministry is against anything that excludes others and puts people to shame. Using the analogy of Jesus as the bread of life, Rev. Henry emphasizes that everyone is welcome to the bread, and there is no place for shame. Liturgist Alice Thorn reads from Jeremiah 31:31-34.

Reflecting on Rev. 7:9-17, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry explains that We're all going to suffer some time. Even Jesus suffered on the cross. Henry goes on to discuss how to find strength when we are suffering, and how do we give strength to those around us that are suffering. Ellen Bailey gives a moving account of some of her suffering and how those around her gave her strength. Liturgist Rhonda Lakatos reads from Ezekiel 34:11-16.

In this memorable service focusing on the cinema and Jesus, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry regales us during the children's sermon with his movie of Jesus, and a subsequent visit from Jesus. In his sermon Henry contrasts the cinematic "action hero" with the biblical pacifist Jesus. This sermon is accompanied with show tunes played by pianist Leroy Kromm. Liturgist Roland Neufeld reads from John 20:19-31. See the associated video at: http://blip.tv/file/3478257/

Preaching from Luke 9:28-45, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry reflects on the transfiguration of Jesus. Although the transfiguration provides a glimpse of the glory of God, Henry emphasizes that it is not about what happens to Jesus; it's about what could be for humanity and for our church. Liturgist Ruth McCreath reads from 1 Cor. 13, and Luke 9.

The choir at the Stone Church of Willow Glen presents "Prayer of the Children" as the anthem for the Sunday morning service. "If anyone reading this blog knows of a choir or a recording featuring my song, I would love to hear from you. I'm trying to connect the dots where all the places it has been sung. Perhaps this small offering of mine can be a catalyst for peaceful change in a very troubled world. I'm thankful everyday for the still, small place where this song came from. I...

In the first part of a three part series on King David, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry uses the king of entertainment, Michael Jackson, as a comparison to King David. Both are incredibly talented; both have sketchy personal lives. Speaking on 2 Samuel 6, where King David dances with all his might before the ark of the covenant, Rev. Henry encourages us to dance, even in the face of criticism and danger. Liturgist Judy West speaks from Mark 6.

He compares the stories of Jonah(Jonah 1:4-6), Jesus in the boat (Mark 4:35-41), and the Titanic with that of the Mayflower and its pilgrims.
