Sabotage is a 1981 computer game for the Apple II family of computers, written by Mark Allen and published by On-Line Systems. The player controls a gun turret at the bottom of the screen by either keyboard, paddle control, or a single axis of a joystick. The turret can swivel to cover a large area of the screen, but cannot move from its base. Helicopters fly across the screen at varying heights, progressively lower over time, dropping paratroopers. The gun may fire multiple shots at once, and...

JOT was the front end of HyperTyper, an early word processor intended for the 1972 market; unfortunately the backer backed out, ending the project. The original 1972 version was designed to use a teletype for input and output. What you're seeing, the 1986 rebuild, was for the Apple II, which had a screen but no pointing device, and no built-in lower case. (To get lower case, you had to buy a piece of hardware called the Paymar Adapter, a "daughterboard" that plugged into the...

Choplifter (stylized as Choplifter!) is a 1982 Apple II game developed by Dan Gorlin and published by Brøderbund. It was ported to Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit family, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, Commodore VIC-20, and MSX. Graphically enhanced versions for the Atari 7800 and Atari XEGS were published in 1988 by Atari. In Choplifter, the player assumes the role of a combat helicopter pilot. The player attempts to save hostages being held in prisoner of war camps in territory ruled by the evil...

"Budge says he became interested in computers while obtaining a PhD at UC Berkeley. He purchased an Apple II and began writing games. He enjoyed it so much that he dropped out of school and became a game programmer. Budge's first game was a Pong clone, called Penny Arcade, which he wrote using his own custom graphics routines. He traded the completed game to Apple Computer for a Centronics printer. California Pacific published a collection of four of Budge's Apple II games in 1980 as Bill...

Variant of Berzerk You're probably saying "But what the HELL is Berzap!" Glad you asked. The Scenario: This game takes place some time in the future. You've been training in COMSI (the Conspiracy Of Mindless Saboteurs, Inc.) for several years. You have just been handed your toughest assignment to date. Your instructors have dropped you at the headquarters of a huge alien mega- corporation, weaponless (except, of course, your trusty Kill-O-Zap particle beam weapon, which you never go...

A version of Pac-Man for the Apple II by Atarisoft. Offers joystick and keyboard control, and up to 5 players playing against each other. Unusual use of the color palette limitations (the fruits are huge!) and unusually smooth graphics. The program appears to have be a prototype or hack of the Atarisoft version of Pac-Man, which was released in 1983. Text within the code indicates that there is a cheat mode allowing skipping through 21 levels, as well as playing one of the three cartoons. To...
