Super Sonic in Sonic 3D is a hack of Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island made by Sik. This hack allows the player to turn into Super Sonic in said game after collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds, mimicking its prequels Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. The rules are borrowed from the latter two games, so the player must double jump to transform and also must not have a shield in that moment, besides the basic requirements (having all emeralds and 50 rings). All of Super Sonic's behaviour is...

Robotnik was getting frantic. Every plan he made seemed to be thwarted effortlessly by the blue hedgehog, and his ideas were getting stupider and stupider by the week. Utterly confused and enraged, he looked back on some of his old files, and realized that his previous ideas were much better than his current schemes! They'd given Sonic a run for his money, and he had just barely escaped Robotnik's seemingly fool-proof plans. Perhaps, if he lured Sonic back to South Island, he could get his old...

Sonic 1 Alt is a layout hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive by Ell678. It is notable for sporting barely any ASM edits, with the main focus being on the level layouts. Initial response to the new layouts was positive, though the altered palettes were less well received and so have been reverted for the next release.

Sonic - Hyper X is a 2004 hack of Sonic the Hedgehog created by Skaarg. It was one of the first Sonic hacks that had all of its music changed. In addition, it also featured modified palettes and layouts. Skaarg had stated that he was going to continue to expand upon his hack, but it seems highly unlikely at this point.

Sonic 1337 (distributed as Sonic Ultima 1337 in the GoodGen ROMset) is a parody hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive by Ultima. Created at a time when palette-only hacks were common (but seen as technically lazy and/or sloppy), 1337 took up the valiant cause of attempting to be the "worst hack ever." It utilizes clashing palettes (almost every zone features some form of fuchsia pink and light green), poor collision, and incorrect level layout/object positioning....

Your task in this arcade game is to guide a frog across a treacherous road and river, and to safety at the top of the screen. The hack is also in Russian and starts at Wading Around (the fourth stage in the original game) instead of Shell Shock. The rest of the levels are in a different order and the beach ones take place at night. Strangely, the bonus levels are replaced with repeats of levels that were just completed....
