The recent discussion on creating a friendlier Puppy motivated me to critically examine the remaster of fossapup64 9.5 that I install for others. Overall Objective - provide new users with a version that minimizes the frustration of adopting a new operating system. Include these components: -a simplified desktop -a simplified taskbar -a background and theme that presents both style and tech. First impressions count. Taking a cue from Microsoft, their last three Windows, 8, 10, and 11 were...

Based on the Devuan 'Beowulf' branch, alpha version, for testing Probably in summer of 2019 the Devuan beowulf branch becomes the new 'stable' (when ready) Till that time, testing and feedback appreciated, also opinions about what to include or not, choice for Desktop environment etc... would be very welcome. I chose for Devuan as a base (instead of Debian) because AFAIK the new expected Debian 'stable' (buster) doesn't give the choice anymore to boot without systemd. Custom repository:...

Quirky Pyro64 is built with packages compiled from source in OpenEmbedded. It will run on PCs with x86_64 (64-bit) CPUs, of at least "core2" vintage. The download file is only 290MB, yet has an incredible collection of applications, including LibreOffice, Kodi, Gimp, Planner, Pidgin, Dia, Xine, SeaMonkey, Gphoto2, Gparted and Grisbi -- plus lots more! Here are release notes and issues, in no particular order: Kodi and Xine . Two media players. Comparisons please! Kodi is huge, that...
