The Bible isn't to be studied from just an academic perspective or to be used as a theological club to beat people into repentance, submission and or conformity. The Bible is God's love letters from His heart to ours. It is His story and how He desires us to be a part of that story.

God has created us to live a life of simplicity. Jesus modeled how He wanted us to live and relate to others. But the way we live our lives puts up barriers that come between us and God and each other. We build emotional barriers. We build barriers by spending our efforts, affections and means on acquiring things. We block Jesus and others out with busyness. This message will focus on how to embrace the faith formation of simplicity.

This sermon explores a theology of rest, working out of Genesis 2 and Exodus 20, looking at the reason God rested and what that means for us. God did not rest because He was weary nor just because He was well pleased, but because He was ABLE to rest. This has very important implications for us in terms of physical, psychological and spiritual well-being.
