Peter gives two proofs to counter act what was stated in verse 4 regarding the objection of the final Judgment. First, the waters that were separated were brought together. Second, the Lord operates on a different timetable. Thus, repentannce is now.
We examine 2 Peter 3:11-16. The call is that as we are those informed by the last days we live in this time seeking to conform to Christ realizing the graciousness of our king.
Rev. Lindemulder goes through these verses showing how God is at work in us. The emphasis placed here is not on the suffering, but rather on the glory of Christ being at work in us.
We look at 2 Peter 3:1-4 demonstrating that the scoffers do not rattle or annul the kingdom's reality, but ironically establish it's presence.
Peter appeals to the OT prophets and to the prophets to establish that Christ is coming again in history. Hie point is that as one historical event took place so will the other because the end of history has already been manifested.
Peter addresses the claimed freedom that these teachers promise. The freedom that they hold forth is not the freedom of heaven, but the freedom of hell. Truly there is no life outside the kingdom of Christ proclaimed in the gospel message.

Here Peter declares to us that as we are new creatures in Christ we are called to live as those made alive in Christ. The guarding that was commanded to Adam is commanded to us, but with a different application. The difference is that we are confirmed in Christ.
Peter is contrasting two different prophetic lines: The paradigm prophet of Moses who declares the coming of Christ. Balaam the prophet of Lamech the mercenary prophet. Covenant history proves that the prophetic word of Moses trumps Balaam's Followers.
