What is available?

  • Planet.osm in XML format (current and full history), dumped weekly
  • Planet.osm in the custom Protocolbuffer Binary Format (PBF) (current and full history), dumped weekly
  • Metadata of all changes (changesets) in XML format, dumped weekly
  • All discussions in XML format, dumped weekly
  • User contributed notes, dumped daily

How do I search this collection?

The items in this collection are identified as follows:
  • Planet.osm in XML format for current data have identifiers with the prefix "osm-planet-". For example, for the dump on January 15, 2018, the identifier would be osm-planet-20180115. You can search for items using the subject "planet" and NOT "history".
  • Metadata of all changes (changesets) in XML format are stored together with the Planet.osm dump in the same item. They also have the same prefix "osm-planet-"
  • All discussions in XML format are also stored together with the Planet.osm dump in the same item. They have the same prefix "osm-planet-".
  • Planet.osm in XML format for historical data have identifiers with the prefix "osm-planet-history-". For example, for the dump on March 12, 2018, the identifier would be osm-planet-history-20180312. You can search for items using the subject "planet" and "history".
  • Planet.osm in PBF format for current data have identifiers with the prefix "osm-pbf-". For example, for the dump on March 20, 2017, the identifier would be osm-pbf-20170320. You can search for items using the subject "pbf" and NOT "history".
  • Planet.osm in PBF format for historical data have identifiers with the prefix "osm-pbf-history-". For example, for the dump on January 15, 2018, the identifier would be osm-pbf-history-20180115. You can search for items using the subject "pbf" and "history".
  • User contributed notes have identifiers with the prefix "osm-notes-". For example, for the dump on August 15, 2019, the identifier would be osm-notes-20190815. You can search for items using the subject "notes".
