Jefferson Boyer, a student at Salisbury University from 1987 to 1990 and later an adjunct faculty in the English department, tells about his working and academic experiences as a transfer student, faculty characters and mentorship under Dr. Polly Stewart, and the formation of the Gay and Lesbian Student Alliance. Boyer was a student in the English department, performed in the theatre, and worked as a student in campus dining, horticulture, and campus housing.
