The rank of Fellow is the highest recognition that the NASA Ames Research Center can bestow upon one of its own for a lifetime of intellectual accomplishments. The Fellows are an elite group of Ames people who have built a global reputation for excellence in their scientific and engineering research.
The 2012 Ames Fellow Inductees include Dr. Louis J. Allamandola, Dr. Wayne R. Johnson, Dr. Baruch S. Blumberg and Dr. Hans Mark.
Dr. Baruch Blumberg was one of history's greatest explorer-scientists. In 1999, he became the founding director of the NASA Astrobiology Institute. He joined NASA because of his abiding interest in the nature of life and his strong belief in the breakthrough value of interdisciplinary research, extraordinary endeavors, and the unique perspective that space exploration offers humanity.
