This set is partly from a 27th generation copy of an Underground Flavas tape out of West London and partly from a rip which had been shared on the web a few years back [and subsequently been deaded in terms of linkage]. We’ve bumped the EQ in Izotope, compressed it a touch and tweaked it for your listening pleasure. This show is a great example of why Stretch is held is such high esteem by his peers within the industry as well as the listeners, he may have been a DJ and a host, but the actual...

The worst thing about this 30 year old tape of the Capital Rap Show is the interference [at some points, opera bleeds in from another station, some things just cant be remastered]. The best thing is that Marley drops FIVE tracks that, to this day, have never been officially released: Marley & Flex/ Pete Rock & CL Smooth/ Intelligent Hoodlum, and one from the Have No Fear Swan Is Here full-length by Biz associate, TJ Swan [An album that according to sources never made it past the demo...

RRR are extremely pleased to offer another previously unheard* Stretch & Bobbito Show from 1991. This is a full 90 minute tape, tweaked and remastered to make that compressed FM vibe, sound as bumpin as poss. Filled with treats from the time, all expertly mixed, blended and cut the f**k up by one of the finest DJs on the planet. DJ Stretch Armstrong takes doubles of virtually every tune, perfectly and succinctly tearin em all up, while Kurious and Bobbito go ‘live to five’ with studio...

This decent quality chrome TDK SF from 1987 is packed with tracks from Black Rock n Ron, Nice and Smooth, Kings of Pressure and the Jungle Brothers, and the only comedian I ain't never heard tell no joke, MC Mitchski! The Sunkist ad is brain-worm, but so is "Do The James Brown," so it all balances out. The September 1995 edition of Westwood & Flex's Rap Exchange. As was the norm for me back then, this was edited down with the pause button to fit onto a 90 minute tape. These days the selection on here could just as easily be the set list for a DJ Lay Z B'$t@rd warm-up set at your local 90s rap night - Danger, Drop, Ice Cream, Livin Proof etc but also includes a few (what are now) deeper cuts like Fat Joe's 'Respect Mine' & 'Bronx Tale' and the dope 'Black Reign' by Ten Thieves. - DJ...

What do we have here then? Oh just some insanely early WKCR action from back when the show was in it's infant stages and Stretch was still going by the name of DJ Skinny Bones... (quality isn't great for the first few minutes but settles down by the time the music starts) Although tons of tapes from the duo's 8 year run have been posted online these sessions from 1990 have proved hard to come by. Even Stretch and Bob themselves have been asking for them, so this was quite a find. Shout out to...

If you are from outside of the UK, this may be the first time youve heard of the UK Fresh 86 shows. Nuff guests on this one: Smooth Da Hustler, Das EFX and Tragedy with Capone-N-Noreaga are all in the house and all kick a freestyle, plus there's the unreleased "Half-A-Mil" by CNN which is very dope indeed. The recording is a bit paused buttoned in places but that just means that more of the good stuff has been captured. - DJ Step One

This classic Raw Deal episode comes shortly after the name transition from Club Krush. The Tommy Boy crew rolls massive into the studio including Naughty By Nature before their first album (as NBN) hit the shelves. Along with them is Prince Rakeem who, of course, later became Wu-Tang Clan's Rza. Interestingly, while he mentions his "Wu-Tang Slang style," the Wu-Tang crew had not yet been formed by that name. Instead, he was down with the DMD ("Dick 'Em Down") Posse. He...

Great Chuck Chillout episode from the spring of 1988 with plenty of classics alongside long-forgotten tracks ("Hot Pants," "My Rhythm is Kept"). Likewise, there are lots of great drops from legends and forgotten crews alike. Definitely a reminder how dope and genre-changing 1988 was. It's Chuck Chillout and he's live... understaaaaaand? 01 Intro Chuck Chillout theme (?)... Deuces Wild Top Billin (Teddy Ted Mix) (No Half Steppin)... Audio Two Fly Girl... Grandmaster Flash...

This is not just another old school radio show. The operating room shows from Dr. Dre are very hard to find. And this one is imo very special. It contains an interview with KRS and Scott La Rock (6 months before his death) about the bridge wars, one of the important chapters of hip hop history. Scott is dissing Mr Magic, Shan and the Juice Crew and KRS is talking about The bridge and the reason to write 'the bridge is over'. This is like a time capsule back to 1987. - Dutch

In between the chats are segments of the Japan Tour from ‘Tokyo SKI’, with Afrika Islam on the wheels and Freddy introducing members of Rock Steady. You can watch the CC4 MCs in this video ... I've only ever had a couple of Wake Up Show tapes in my possession so was happy to see this one in the last batch of cassettes that Tobes hooked me up with. I was particularly pleased to find this treat on there though: Guru stops by the show to do a quick interview (just before Moment Of Truth came out) and then drops a few verses alongside a relatively unknown Eminem, before Defari steps up to the mic and then the Beatnuts get involved. Good times. Do things like this still happen anywhere...

This is the legendary DJ Pete Rock and Marley Marl with Heavy D and Grap Luva in the studio [with T Money and Doctor Dré joining late]. Heavy talks about touring, acting, working with Levert [and broadening audience to include adults], his Jamaican heritage and his lil cousin G, ‘Nobody know who Grap is’…. The Big Tyme LP was released June 1989, The Hevster mentions that the next releases were due in September 1990, yet probably due to the sad passing of Trouble T Roy who died July 1990,...

Prime golden era rap radio courtesy of Diablo. P-Fine hosting Rap This! on WNYU from September '87 and the tracklist is just splendid. Certified classics by the likes of BDP, Kane and the Jungle Brothers sit alongside relative obscurities like Vandy C & Bill Blast and Devastator (P-Fine and Livio G's group), plus a Stetsasonic promo over chain snatchers' favourite "Go Stetsa I." Interestingly, P also plays "The Ruler's Back" and says it's "never to be released on...

The 'Wild Pitch extravaganza' show, with MC Serch & DJ Eclipse in the studio showcasing Wild Pitch's new roster. Foul Play, Total Pack and Jesse West are all in the building to play their forthcoming releases and kick a freestyle. OC also puts in an appearance and as you would expect he stands out from his label mates by some distance. Unfortunately 3 months later - the 8th May to be precise - Serch would be on Wildman Steve's WBAU show announcing that Wild Pitch was no more and that the...

This was a bit of a big deal at the time. Previously the Rap Exchange shows had given us 2 hours a month of Flex's show in NYC but this time he'd come to the UK to (relentlessly) promote his first 60 Minutes Of Funk mixtape and play at Club UN for the 1st anniversary of Tim's Radio 1 show, which started in December 94. What we got was two 3 hour shows of Flex mixing interspersed with Akinyele and Sadat X freestyles as they'd accompanied him on the trip, having featured on the mixtape's lead...

A 24-minute Roxanne mix that aired on Power 99 (WUSL) in Philadelphia. Excellent for its simplicity -- from the basic scratches over the dub version of Sparky D's "Sparky's Turn (Roxanne You're Through)," to the heavily echoed Lady B "oh my goodness!" at the end of "The Real Roxanne," to the dope electro-tinged "Do the Roxanne (Dance)" by Dr. Rocx & Co.. It closes out with a super-rare live Disco C Roxanne rhyme over Sparky D's instrumental. - Laze
