Martha Urioste, deemed La Madrina de Montessori, was instrumental in changing the educational landscape in Denver during her long career as an educator. At a time when schools faced challenges like desegregation and alarmingly high dropout rates, Martha knew a different course of action was needed. She introduced Montessori education which left a lasting impact on the students and the district. She talked to I Am Denver about her passion for Montessori.
