Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead is ancestral celebration that remembers and honors those who have departed. Whether or not you usually celebrate Día de Muertos, you are invited to attend and learn more about this traditional celebration. Attendees will experience a Procession of the Ofrendas and Burial of Sadness, beautiful luminarias, traditional Mexican dancing by Vancouver Ballet Folklorico, La Catrina and an altar to the beloved deceased. This year, Día de Muertos also offers a space for healing after two difficult years of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many people have experienced significant loss.
Luminaria Día de Muertos is presented by Vancouver Ballet Folklorico, with support from Artstra, Clark County Arts Commission and the City of Vancouver.
