Galveston is a beautiful place to bike, but we want to make sure it’s also a safe place to bike.
The tragic June deaths of two men killed while biking on Galveston roadways – and a viral video of a close encounter between a truck and cyclist on FM 3005 – started a conversation about bicycle safety on the island.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing videos about what it means to be a cyclist in Galveston. We’ll be talking to people about why they love biking and how to cycle safer. We’ll remind drivers how to properly share the road with the most vulnerable road users.
Please watch our first video with the rules of the road and help share the information! We want you to join our conversation by tagging posts #SharetheRoadGalveston and share why you’re an island cyclist and how you think drivers and cyclists can make our roads safer.
Remember, we all #SharetheRoadGalveston! For more information about rules and safety tips, visit biketexas.org.
