I’m Mayor Curt Emick, coming to you today from beautiful Civic Center Park where over the next few months we’ll resume many of our popular summer events and programs.
We’ve missed seeing our neighbors, friends, and family at so many Town events. Our parks, recreation programs, and special events are a big part of what make Apple Valley the best place to live and play in the High Desert.
As the weather warms and COVID slowly ebbs away, I am thrilled to tell you that we are officially kicking off our summer season on Memorial Day weekend when we will open the pool for recreational swim and lessons We will also have games and activities at many of our parks all weekend and relaunch Day Camp and recreation classes the following week.
But even before all of that, we have a walk/run event coming up in early May, with the May the Fourth Fun Run.
We will once again fill our parks with live music beginning on June 17 when the Sunset Concert Series returns to Civic Center Park with Latin Express.
The Freedom Festival is coming back too, with live music, shopping, food vendors, and of course, it wouldn’t be summer in Apple Valley without fireworks. This year we can once again all watch together inside Brewster Park!
This past week we celebrated the grand opening of two new businesses in Apple Valley: Apple RV and Boat Storage and the Apple Valley Hotel and Lodge.
Both businesses opened in buildings that had been vacant for more than a decade!
I want to thank all the business partners for their investment in our community.
This is a year to rebound and rebuild and with these two business openings and recreation programming resuming, we are on the right track!
And finally, if you’re gearing up for summer vacations, our Clerk’s office has resumed processing passports by appointment only. Call (760) 240-7000 ext. 7800 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment.
