police >> the president hits the road to sell his plan to the american people. the latest stop on a cross country tour. the news at 6:00 starts right now. and right now, president trump is in harrisburg, pennsylvania, unveiling his tax plan. the big question, will it be a boom or a bust? >> another question, could the president's political feud with republicans on capitol hill stall his plans before they have a chance to get going? fox 5 tom fitzgerald has been tracking this one today. fitz, the president out on twitter again, hitting democrats pretty hard. >> reporter: sure did. the president stepped to the microphone just about 15 minutes ago. on stage right now in harrisburg. we want to bring you a little bit of what he's saying. >> not to the highest earner, it's a middle class bill. that's what we're thinking of. that's what i want. i've had rich friends of mine come up to me and say, donald, you're doing this tax plan, we don't want anything. we don't. they gain when the economy gains,
get better. they gain in lots of different ways. but they won't want that. so many people have come up to me and said give it to the middle class, people that need it. give it to people that. >> reporter: that is exactly what the white house is stressing. this tax plan will be aimed at the middle class. of what will it mean? well, the seven tax brackets we have, that will go down to three. there's going to be a 12, a 20 and a 25. now, the small business tax rate, that's going to be held now at 25%. the corporate tax rate, that is only going to be at 20%. democrats have been pushing back hard on this idea the president has been putting out this morning on twitter. that democrats want a huge tax increase. in fact, democrats are saying that this could cause more problems for the middle class because they do not believe corporations will use that money they saved to create jobs. the president right out of the gate today, firing back on that one as well. >>

happen november 7th. president trump recently endorsed his rival. and mike pence will campaign with gillespie this weekend. two men are dead and a third wounded in what witnesses described as gun battle in northwest last night. multiple shooters opened fire on two men standing on the porch of a home just three blocks from the fourth district police station. fox 5 paul wagner joins us live from the scene tonight with the story. paul? >> hi, tony. there were as many as nine people inside a house on 8th street, women, children, men on the porch, as you mentioned, then a car pulled up. and multiple shots were fired. in fact, there was an exchange of gunfire. there were three people hit. two were killed. but what really stunned everyone here on this street today is the fact that after the initial burst of gunfire, the gunman
>> it's not about how many shots, it's watching my nephew die in front of me. bleed out in front of me. >> alfonso russell and harry lane were inside the house around midnight when there was a sudden burst of gunfire. >> maybe about 15, 16 rounds, something like that. >> then a second burst before harry lane headed for the first floor to see what happened. he said he was told his nephews donnell and bernard had been shot and headed for the front door. in the front yard was a man he didn't recognize. >> i looked at him, and his eyes were moving, but they weren't, you know, glassy. and he was just moaning. so somebody yelled, they're coming back. that's the car. that's the car. >> lane said he ran back inside the house when he heard even more gunfire. >> one of them came through the wall and i was standing right there. the bullet went through like that. i always say my prayers,
i know what got me through it. i say my prayers. my prayers didn't help my nephew >> i would have fallen. we have no respect, nobody? no morals or conscious, nobody don't care >> bernard died at the scene and harry said he thinks the man he found you wounded in the yard was one of shooters and that his nephew had been set up. dc police have not identified that man. we know that donnell marsh is recovering in a hospital here in the city. no arrests have been made. police say they're looking for a dark bmw that left the scene. in northwest, paul wagner, fox 5 local news. now, meanwhile act deadly shooting under investigation in the district. police say someone shot and killed a man last night along the 5400 block of hunt place northeast. no word yet on a suspect or a motive. we are now tracking some information out of anne arundel county. anne arund c
remain quiet about three gang related murders last week. the court documents obtained by fox 5 outline a brutal killing of what is believed to be one of those victims. a former annapolis high student charging documents show investigators found the body of 21-year-old journey repres repres representative. five people have been charged with first and second degree murder. they announced multiple arrests in connection with the murders but still saying not enough information because they believe that could put others in danger. >> we want people to know that the police are here to help them. if they live in a community where they're in fear of gangs or gang activity or their family is affected. we want them to come forward or call our tip line, you can remain anonymous. we will never question your immigration status if you're coming forward. i know a lot of people are afraid to go to the police. perhaps in the countries where they come from, there's an issue with police departments there, not being
not the case here. >> fox 5 did reach out to ice regarding the immigration status of the five arrested in the rivera lopez murder but we have yet to hear back. happening in loud county, the sheriff's department is investigating reports of two suspicious people in the brambellton area. a woman appears to be eyeing children. in most recent case, the woman was reportedly talking on her cell phone to a man who was nearby about a young boy that she spotted. that incident happened on ogelthorpe court in ashburn, a few days earlier, a reds told police she was approached twice by a woman who asked her children's names and asked to be their nanny. >> there's nothing at this time suggesting it's human trafficking. again, it's very early on in the investigation. we have very limited info at this point in time. >> in both cases, the female suspect is described as being either white or hispanic with dark hair and in her mid 50's.

. dc police need your help finding a puppy they say was stolen at gunpoint overnight. take a good look at this picture. police say it dog was stolen around 5:00 yesterday evening. it happened in the 2500 block of palm rajoy road southeast. the puppy may have a white string around her neck. if you have information you're asked to call police. one man isn't critical condition after being rescued from a large overnight house fire in arlington. the flames broke out around 1:00 a.m. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. an big story still developing tonight, 22 wildfires raging through parts of northern california as of right now, the death toll stands at 21. at least 180 others are injured. and nearly 700 people have been reported missing. at the same time, more than 3,000 homes and businesses have been destroyed. it's too early to know just how much damage has been done
region's wine industry. but napa valley said at least four wineries suffered total or significant losses. and the day is almost here, one of the largest developments in our area has its grand opening tomorrow. the warf along the southwest waterfront made up of fancy restaurants, expensive condos and a state-of-the-art concert venue that much of dc is talking about. as one part of the district celebrates a new development, another wants in on the action too. fox 5 matt ackland has more. >> reporter: the rush is on. the big day almost here. the warf is planning a big celebration as at massive project filled with great places to eat and world class entertainment finally gets going. millions invested to transform this part of dc. just a few miles away from the warf, here in ward seven, there is a desperate need for development. in fact, this is the sky land site. you might remember this is
wal-mart had planned to build a store but they pulled out. they were going to be restaurants here, condominiums. so the project slowed down in an area that really needs development. >> i don't know the reason behind why they backed out. of that was very disappointing to the people that live out there. it would have created a lot of jobs. unemployment is very high on this end over here. >> reporter: sky land is still moving forward but resident says development on the east side of the city needs help. they tell us there aren't enough grocery stores and sit-down restaurants are few and far between. >> you need development here? yes, big time. big time. from laundry to grocery to clothing. >> reporter: the sales and property tax income generated at places like the warf will likely benefit other parts of the city. still, ronald richardson has a message for dc leaders >> bring some business over here, development over here.

it's funky when you see that >> days like this make me nervous. i feel like something bad >> like we should be hearing hounds should be released because it's so foggy. it is a little bit foggy out there. of the tower cam is up higher where the fog is. but this is kind of how we're going to roll through rest of the evening. tomorrow, more showers likely. perhaps a little bit more than we experienced today, which has been trace amounts in most areas, we're not talking about a big wetting down, we're talking maybe a 10th of an inch rain, we will have a little bit more rain shower activity. getting in closer on radar, we have a few pockets of more substantial rain. mostly it is just this drizzle that you're seeing. i'll put this in motion, everything is moving pretty much due west to east. drizzle does not show up all that a well on the radar picture but i think the patches will fill in, and what a change from yesterday. yesterday we had a record high of 87 at dulles
now, it's still very humid out. so probably doesn't feel that great to you. and that marina layer is being supplied by these east winds, so we're getting a little feel of the atlantic ocean and that loads us up on the low clouds, drizzle, fog and moisture hangs around. temperatures right now even out to our north and west you can see that it's only in the 60's, winchester 63. of dc 72. gaithersburg, 70, a dramatic change in 24 hours, we can see that it's 17 degrees cooler than it was at 6:00 yesterday in hagerstown. 10 degrees cooler in gaithersburg and 11 degrees cooler here in dc. but again, because of that humidity being so thick, it's not really a very comfortable temperature. tomorrow, we continue with the hit or miss light showers, and that east wind doesn't give up just yet either. as we get into the late afternoon and evening, temperatures only top out in the 60's. of maybe a few spots get to near 70. so even cooler tomorrow than today. now, futurecast, a
picking up on a few showers, we believe this is a little bit overdone for later tonight, some late showers around probably not anything that's more than light. tomorrow morning, not everybody sees drizzle. but there will be patches around and light showers and we keep that going through the afternoon. might even pick up a little bit in intensity or at least in coverage by the noon hour. and we're still dealing with a few more as we get into late night on thursday. can't even rule out a few showers on friday. so tomorrow's planner, we need the rain, it's not a lot. but it will get us going for a little while. 8:00 a.m. temperatures 65, by noon, 67, we stay right around 67 with areas of drizzle and light showers at 5:00 tomorrow. just wanted to show you these are the temperatures we're expecting tomorrow. quite a substantial change even from today. now, let me go to our fox 5 accu-weather seven-day forecast. because i want to see that we have two days coming up where we're in the 60's, upper 60's at that but then complete 180 for the weekend. we'll
