along central park west overnight....gearing up to protect millions of spectators expected at the thanksgiving day parade. nypd is going to mount an even stronger operation this year new york city mayor bill de blasio detailed many of the unprecedented security plans last night. dozens of sand- filled sanitation trucks...blocking off cross-town traffic for the first time in the parade's 90 year history. helicopters scanning crowds from above... ground...using radiation detectors, bomb- sniffing dogs and other devices...to thwart a terror attack: all police will have a smartphone and connect to incident command post if there is any issue. the heavy police presence along the parade route...did not deter thousands from coming here last nightto see the massive balloons featured in today's event...come to life. ian delbalso and his daughter were among them. to see the

pinellas county deputy shot and killed a man who was armed with a knife. deputies were called out to the duval park apartments in lealman wednesday night. investigators say the suspect, 43- year-old william beavers, who was said to be "drunk and belligerent" came at them with a knife. they told him to put it down, but he reportedly responded saying: you're going to have to kill me. deputy tyler green shot and killed him. people say beavers had medical issues. deputy green has been placed on paid administrative leave. another child has died from monday's school bus crash in chattanooga, tenneesee. that means a total of six students were killed. four children are still in the hospital. there is also some new information on the driver of that bus. alcohol and drugs have been ruled out... but investigators are looking into other possible factors, like excessive speed. the n-t-s-b says it also wants to know why 24-year-old johnthony walker wasn't driving on a designated bus route. walker remains in jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter.
