pkg: beth stewart witnessed the fire we looked out the window and couldnt believe it. people of the small town of urbana woke up monday morning to massive flames surrounding the dozier yachting center. beth stewart the entire backyard looked like it was engulfed in flames and i was like oh my word so the first thing i did was pick up my phone and called 911 then gas tanks started blowing up and it sounded like some of the neighbors said it sounded like they dropped a bomb or something the coast guard was notified and crews from all over the region came to help in controlling the flames. steve hollberg mayor incredible team effort for something that you dont build a prcedure for so were going to be doing some serious thinking about what kind

it happened on cunningha drive. right now-- we don )t if anyone is hurt or what was taken. we do know that two schools were temporarily placed on lockdown. eaton middle school and cooper elementary were both placed on minutes. both lockdowns have now been lifted by police. be sure to stay here on newschannel three and look for any updates on w-t-k-r dot- com. in newport news -- police are investigating three shootings that happened all in one day. first -- a man was shot in the chest in the parking lot at the pondo cafe and lounge on jefferson avenue early saturday morning. he was rushed to the hospital. then a little after noon -- officers were called to 25-th street where they say a 19- year-old was shot in the leg twice. the victim told police it was random. the third shooting happened around eleven that night. we )re told 18-year-old horton hunter was shot in the leg on jefferson avenue - near dresden drive.

hospital, released shortly after - then arrested. according to police -- hunter had two outstanding warrants. if you know anything about any of these shootings -- take action and call the crime line. portsmouth police say two young boys were accidentally shot at two different locations. the first happened just after 10-30 yesterday morning on lancer drive. police say a 7- year-old shot himself in the hand as he was playing with an unsecured gun inside his home. officials say he s expected to be okay. shortly after-- a 9-year-old was shot in the leg by another boy. officials say the boy was playing with a gun he found outside near moregate lane in the churchland section of the city. the boy was taken to the hospital and will also be okay. officials are still investigating and say charges are pending in both cases. later today two presidential candidates will be in hampton roads to campaign before super tuesday. newschannel three s jessica larche is live in the control

the campaign trail is leading two more presidential hopefuls to hampton roads today. democratic frontrunner hillary clinton will be in norfolk. she is set to take the stage at lake taylor high school at 8 o )clock tonight. clinton has some key backers from the commonwealth - including governor terry mcauliffe - and senators tim kaine and mark warner. republican contender ben carson -- will be in virginia beach. he )s appearing at regent university -- part of the school s presidential candidates forums. jeb bush, john kasich and ted cruz have all appeared at the university during the campaign season. last night - hundreds packed the virginia beach convention center to see republican candidate marco rubio. a c-n-u poll has rubio with the highest approval rating among virginia voters - but still polling behind trump in the republican party. clinton s event is free and open to the public. there are no tickets left for carson s event -- but you can catch the live stream on wtkr dot com. in the control room -- jessica larche -- newschannel three.

for your health with some ground breaking studies, one linking weight gain and memory loss and another on how those with poor dental hygiene could be at risk for a certain type of cancer. a dental study found a link between gum disease bacteria and esophageal cancer. doctors say 61-percent of cancer patients in their study also had p- gingivalis jin-jive-ul-us . researchers hope the bacteria may be used to help detect the deadly cancer. and researchers are proving a link between poor memory and

fifty people with low to high body mass indexes were tested on how well they remembered where they hide objects over a certain time- frame. researchers found that overwight participants had a harder time remembering where they put things. there s a new plan to stop airlines from stuffing even more passengers into coach. senator charles schumer says the f-a-a needs to establish seat- size standards. the new york senator says airlines are slowly cutting down leg room and seat width to cut costs. schumer also says it )s unfair for people to pay more for seats with extra leg room. a vote is expected in march. it )s not just an extra day on the calendar. coming up-- see where you can get some free stuff today

american doctor. doctor dilip joseph was held hostage by the taliban in afghanistan. byers shielded the hostage from gunfire at the same time he fought a taliban guard. he is the 11-th american serviceman in afghanistan to receive the medal of honor. friends, family and fellow officers got together to remember a prince william county police officer. officer ashley gwin -dun guindon was on her first day on patrol when she was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call.ronald hamilton is charged with her murder and the murder of his wife. the couple )s son was also home and is now with relatives. hamilton is an active duty army staff sergeant assigned to the pentagon. he is currently being held without bond. and tonight-- a vigil will be held for the young boy and the two others killed by last week s tornado in waverly. 50-year-old old larry turner, 26-year-old devine string- field - and two- year-old ian lewis were killed when their

storm. tonight s candle light vigil is being organized by the women s social club of wakefield. it gets underway at 6-30 p-m at the annie b jackson elementary school in waverly. in portsmouth -- police are investigating an armed robbery. it happened just after nine las tnight at the neighborhood mart on afton parkway. officials say no one was hurt -- but the suspect got away with cash. if you know anything about this robbery -- take action and call the crime line. a virginia beach road-- temporarily shut down after a bad motorcycle crash last night. it happened just after ten at the intersection of mill dam road and first colonial road. officials say the motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. no word yet on his condition today. first colonial road was closed for about three hours while officials investigated the accident. a university of virginia student was sent before the cameras in north korea for the first time since his arrest two months ago.

a frightening situation for a four year old boy.. he reached into a vending machine, and couldn )t get his arm back out. firefighters in australia spent more than six hours freeing the boy. emergency responders even had to sedate the boy three times to keep him calm. officials say he had never seen a vending machine before and was trying to grab some oreos when

action. crews eventually got him out using giant power tools to cut open the machine. energy drinks are no longer for sale at one college in vermont . middlebury college is banning the sale of energy drinks on campus. they claim the drinks are linked to "high-risk sexual activity." the ban will apply to popular beverages such as red bull and 5-hour energy. the ban does not prohibit students from consuming the drinks. they just can t buy them on campus. it will take affect on rch 7th. apple is expected to release its newest iphone at the end of march. the phone will reportedly have a smaller four inch screen and look identical to the i phone 5 s -- except for curved edges. it will also not include the 3-d touch feature. tech experts say the move could satisfy users who like apple )s smaller phones with longer battery life. newschannel three continues
