ago. the lightning struck the roof and shortly after that there was a huge explosion. >> i live one street over and by the time i cut through the backyard my neighbor across the street i saw flames coming through the roof. >> firefighters are putting out hotspots in going through and checking if lightning is definitely to blame . what we saw tracking the storm we do believe that is indeed what happened. these storms packs everything and i was chasing them tonight and i got right into the core and picked up some dime sized hail in addition with lightning and the wind got to about 30 miles per hour. potentially what we have over in valentine. we will stay on top of this and we will have updates tonight and tomorrow morning on daybreak.

a man and woman were found dead in home north of claremont. >> deputy say a couple was found dead inside a home on rest home road investigators are calling the death suspicious. right now they're trying to determine if someone forced their way into the house. family members to the couple had a 10-year-old daughter who is not at home when their bodies were discovered. >> it's crazy because you just took two lives. whoever you are you took to lives and these two lives had a daughter. a 10-year-old daughter who now has both parents are gone. >> deputy say a family member actually found a couple after not hearing from them this weekend. >> also tonight breaking news in concorde . police say a person is dead another injured after shooting near the logan family resource center. the police chief says that there is no indication it has anything

. >> tempers flared between protesters and some trump supporters outside the rally hickory today. you can see here some scuffling . police did have to step in. >> there just trying to bully their bernie sanders crap on me and i won't take it. >> police had officers on campus to keep everything in control and they took six people in the custody and the issued citations today. investigators in fayetteville say they will not file charges against the trump campaign because of this video and a punch from a rally last week. deputies charged this 78-year-old man with punching a protester. the sheriff's office says it considered and inciting a riot charge but they didn't find enough evidence. also on the ballot tomorrow voters will weigh in on a multibillion-dollar bond package. if it's approved it will be millions on college and state

new energy plan and 90 million for a science lab at unc charlotte. it will not require tax increase. north carolina is in the only states candidates have been vying for tomorrow. primary elections are also happening in florida illinois missouri and ohio. the polls will open at 6:30 a.m. in north carolina. you can find your location on our election center under the news tab. will also have crews inside the polling places across the area tomorrow. a vote of 2016 coverage starts on daybreak at 4:30 a.m. in just the past 60 minutes town leaders in matthews passed a resolution preparing to leave at the charlotte school district unless cms can guarantee neighborhood schools. eyewitness news reporter alexis ashwell was there and explains the resolution. >> reporter: tonight resolution is about being proactive.

local students are guaranteed to attend school the school here in the hometown of matthews less than an hour and a half ago the mayor of matthews and board of commissioners unanimously passed this resolution. you can see all their hands raised in favor during this regularly scheduled meeting. so moving forward on this resolution matthews town leader will form a task force that seeks the wishes of parents and find some of the town was still in order to get the state approval to form an independent district. the resolution also mentions of three potential options. matthews on district town charter schools and breaking into three districts. once the board passes the resolution this evening one commissioner spoke on a personal level saying he moved his own family to matthews so his children could attend quality schools. >> i'm absolutely in favor of

listen to the parents and community leaders. >> moving forward the mayor told me plans to form this task force within the week. it will be made up of any elected officials rather teachers and parents and some former district leaders. mid- hill is also considering a split from the district but hasn't taken any action yet . leaders in huntersville cornelius and davidson all passed resolutions asking the district to make sure that every child in their respective towns has a seat in a neighborhood school. charlotte council members may call for an investigation into how a confidential city memo was leaked to the media. councilman autry didn't specifically identify with the week in question was but did make his concerns clear of the meeting tonight. >> i'm concerned about this sort of behavior.

more than 100,000 taxpayer dollars. new tonight i got exclusive video showing the moment the police say he pocketed the money money. in court to thomas taylor told a judge he only wanted to help the police say his corner store in greer heights was committing a crime. foodstamp fraud. >> we had some concerns. >> after multiple complaints there was an investigation in 2014 sending in an informant to captors undercover video. officers say he would swipe at ebt cards for cash give them a card and then keep the rest for himself pocketing taxpayer dollars. >> upwards of over $100,000 easily. >> since they shut down the crime inside the store crime outside in greer heights has gone down. >> we were probably in this little area right here getting between 100 to 200 calls a year

police say and cooper driver charged in a shooting spree in kalamazoo michigan told investigators he was being controlled by the uber app on his cell phone. documents out today say that jason dalton also told his wife carol she wouldn't be able to go back to work and that his kids would be able to go back to school . police said he told her to watch the news and should understand. the warning came after the first shooting already happened. six people were killed in the shooting in february 20th. to people were injured.
