wednesday's rain caused a portion of the parking lot off mount cross road to break off and fall down into the river below. no one was hurt and no cars were parked in the area at the time. it's unclear when the parking lot will be repaired. a richmond police officer is facing second- degree murder charges. "david cobb" was indicted and arraigned thursday in connection to a shooting last october. investigators say an 18-year-old was killed after the two fought at a chesterfield car wash. the officer turned himself in thursday. he's in jail without bond. richmond police released a statement today saying in part ... this is an unfortunate and tragic situation for all involved... officer cobb is an outstanding police officer and has served the department and the community well. a virginia man charged with plotting to bomb synagogues and black churches is in federal court for a plea agreement hearing. 34-year-old robert doyle faces robbery conspiracy and firearms charges. 33-year-old ronald chaney

volkswagen is pushing back its annual earnings report following its diesel emissions scandal. the report was expected march 10-th. the company it will announce a new reporting date as soon as possible. volkswagen is also delaying its annual shareholder meeting. the company admitted to installing software in some of its diesel powered cars that alter the performance of engines when tested for emissions. u-s authorities are suing. dollar general is recalling about 27 thousand construction truck toys due to a fire and burn hazard. the recall involves a toy excavator and a toy shovel loader. dollar general has received more than five reports of the toy's remote control overheating. no injuries have been reported.
