ready. >> it's our year. >> reporter: it's our day to freeze. >> reporter: i think the vikings are a better draw than drew brees and the saints. we've got satellite, there are a few clouds out there this morning, but generally speaking it's a bright condition. more clouds will overtake us, high, thin clouds, but clouds increasings kind of day today. 13 in allentown. 13 in reading. 15 in trenton. 18 in philadelphia and wilmington. 19 degrees in millville. wind are running ten to 15 miles per hour that's enough to give you windchills in the single digits in most areas. 6 in philadelphia. trenton and allentown. normally our favorite number around here, not such when we're talking windchill. yesterday's high was 27. today we'll get up to 32 at 3:00 p.m. you can see how clouds increase later in the day. we're looking at noticeable

windchills, again, not as bad as yesterday. but if you have plans to head out and do volunteer activities for mlk day. dress for it, winds 8 to 16 miles per hour. the windchills will feel like the mid 20s for the most part. we're watching a clipper system that will wing across the coast and get to us late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. doesn't look like a lot of precipitation with this and a lot of accumulation, but maybe slippery travel from that tomorrow. karen, i'll have the details in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> reporter: look out for slick spots with temperatures this cold. schuylkill expressway eastbound at university, a multi-vehicle accident, three vehicles involved. i was watching a second ago emergency workers pulled ahead. they cleared this scene eastbound schuylkill expressway at university. they had a lane blocked.

the accidents causing 38 miles per hour, i'm seeing an area of red on the schuylkill expressway eastbound with the accident scene at university, crews are pulling ahead and letting the traffic get by. west chester we have a problem with a water main break we had so many of them. now they have to do emergency repair on high street between east biddle street and east washington street. traffic is getting by but it's restricted with crews out there right now. i-95 delaware county, we're clear and dry, we're expecting light volume today with it being the holiday today. >> happening today, the americans will honor the legacy of dr. martin luther king with a dftion. with a day of service. the delaware valley has the largest event in the country. five thousand people will head to girard college alone to volunteer. jeanette reyes is live there right now, good morning, jennette.

>> reporter: good morning, tam, this is what martin luther king day is all about, a day of service and living out the legacy he left behind. i want to step out of the way so you can see the setup. you have the organizations, aka, organization for supporting victims of domestic violence. one of the many good things going on this morning. it gets started around 8:00 a.m. we've seen volunteers trickling in at 6:00 a.m. about 150,000 people are expected to serve in almost 2,000 projects. some of the activities include workshops, trainings a job opportunity fair at the lower level at girard college. annual king tribute concert later today. we'll see the local leaders leading the way. governor wolf and mayor jim kenny, and bob casey will lead people to pack food that will be distributed to philadelphia area

nonprofit organizations. all this highlighting -- >> i think we're a divided nation, i think that has certainly been compounded in recent times, so i think now is perhaps more important than in recent years for us to try to come together find common ground build relationships and realize that in order to solve some of the pressing challengings, it's not just government's role it's everyone's role. >> todd doing great work around philadelphia for years. quakertown school superintendent is responding to criticism that the district is holding classes today on the martin luther king holiday. it's been a designated snow makeup day on the school calendar. while the district said the calendar couldn't be changed, the superintendent has ordered

all social studies classes focus on the civil rights leader. it is an important lesson especially in light of an incident that happened last fall when students made racial slurs against football players from cheltenham during a home game. this was the scene on the 5100 block of walton avenue around 1:45 a.m. a driver the 33-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with various injuries. she is in stable condition. >> a woman was killed when the car she was riding in plunged into the delaware river. witnesses say they saw the driver of the car take off after the crash. the driver was speeding in burlington city when he hit a parked car. he took a nose dive into the delaware river. several people pulled the driver out of the water. >> he said my girlfriend is in the car can you help her, when they turned around to help the

girl, he ran away. >> authorities found the driver moments later, they rushed the woman to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. ice jams are in several states including in western pennsylvania, the mild rain broke up the ice on frozen lakes and rivers that blocked ice and caused flooding. thrsk not there have been not been any issues in our area. >> vikings face the eagles after scoring a 61-yard touchdown. minnesota takes it. 29-24. eagles fans around town and everywhere watching this nail b- nail biter getting pumped. eagles gear flying off the

18 in wilmington and 15 in trenton and cape may. windchills are in the single digits. we've had a lot of that over the last several weeks, haven't we. we have cloud cover in place across the region. with you expect sun early and increasing clouds as the day goes on. some of this could roll in off the ocean and we're watching a clipper system pushing into western pennsylvania that will make it across the state. lehigh valley 28 degrees, increasing clouds and cold, a little breezy. windchills in the 20s, probably the low to mid 20s across the region this afternoon. 34 is the high today at the shore. in philadelphia, 32. increasing clouds still on the cold side. not as windy and cold as yesterday when we got to 27 with stronger gusts, winds out of the north 8 to 16 probably keeping the windchills in the mid 20s. overnight tonight, cloudy and cold, 27 winds dieing down. as we looking at the clipper system it's on its way through the great lakes through the rest of the day and tomorrow and

later tomorrow afternoon and into tomorrow night we'll see the snow pop through briefly in philadelphia. doesn't look like it will amount to a whole lot. the main snow between 3:00 p.m. up until 1:00 a.m. maybe more of this in the northern and western suburbs. about a coating to two inches expected more up north. slippery travel expected even though it's a little bit of snow. wednesday morning there's a lingering snow shower or flurry, we'll see about that. in terms of accumulation, 2 inches to less an an inch in philadelphia on the models. in allentown, a little bit more, some models going closer to 3 inches we're going to 2, or some outlying spots, that's arriving late tomorrow and extending into the wee hours of wednesday morning. 32 the high for martin luther king volunteers. light snow arriving tomorrow in the afternoon and evening. high of 40. that dips quickly as the snow moves in.

today, not a bad day to go skiing. it's cold out as you head out. so far we have light volume on 422 eastbound that's your traffic heading toward king of prussia moving nicely so far. no problems on 422. we have lots of construction going on this week. we'll have 15 minute stoppages on i-95. watch for this tonight through friday 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. northbound between aramingo avenue and bridge street. and southbound construction between allegheny and girard happening overnight through early morning. watch for that. on the schuylkill expressway between south street and the vine. they will shut it down eastbound it happens tonight and lasts through thursday 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. we see the area of green in all your travel times. not looking bad on the highways as you head out. 18 degrees in the city.

13 in reading. how does it feel? feels like 3 degrees that's the windchill. bundle up, you need your green, but long sleeves as you head out. >> you don't want to warm up like this. dramatic footage shows a casino shuttle boat that burst into flames in florida. all 50 passengers jumped into the cold ocean water trying to swim to shore. the fire engulfed the boat when the captain realized there was engine trouble and turned back. neighbors called 911 anne and helped the victims by giving them coats and blankets. >> heart stopping pictures from a runway in turkey. imagine being on that plane, a passenger plane plunging down the cliff. stuck in the frozen mud a few feet from the black sea. it was trying to land at an

schuylkill expressway eastbound at south street. we have a disabled vehicle that pulled up ahead. we have a few problems with disabled vehicle not surprisingly with frigid temperatures. we had an accident schuylkill expressway eastbound near south street that cleared. a couple of problems this morning, another disabled vehicle on the schuylkill expressway eastbound in the process of clearing out. we have a problem in west chester related to an earlier water main break, they had to do emergency repairs, the crews are high street between east biddle and east washington. they are not blocking entirely, but would you -- watch out for r mingler -- emergency roadwork. this is traffic coming up from turnersville and dep for. no delays. >> flames destroyed a tire store in west philadelphia at

50th street and haverford avenue. crews had the scene under control, but the business was gutted. no reports of injuries. flames were seen for miles as an abandoned row home burned in north philadelphia. fire and smoke bellowed from the roof on north 7th street. fire crews battle the the bitter cold to get it under control. nobody was injured. no word on what started the fire. philadelphia water crews continue to repair water main breaks across across the city. this buckled the 2500 block of montrose street in south philadelphia. it started as a small bubble of water now a steady stream. >> it's washed away to the point everything is sunken in. i'm afraid the cars will come down and fall in. >> the water department was out overnight to shut off the water. president trump faced repeated question over the

it is cold, bundle you mean, tam and alicia. >> we'll do that. new surveillance video shows the moment an out-of-control car crashed into the second floor of a building this is the scene in california yesterday morning the driver hit a center divider and went airborne and got stuck inside the dental office. two people inside suffered minor injuries. >> luckily nobody on the other side of that wall. dozens of people in indonesia have been injured by a collapse at the stock exchanges of a floor came crashing down into a crowded lobby sending dust and debris everywhere. crowds ran for cover, 50 people were injured. terrorism was ruled out at it cause of the collapse. >> the officer responsible for hawaii's false ballistic missile warning has been reassigned to a different post.
