struck and killed by an amtrak train in merion station montgomery county. first responders are currently on the scene at the wynnewood strain station. that the amtrak train was heading to new york when it hit the victim trespassing on the tracks. and paoli regional rail line just resumed in the past 15 minutes. stay with "action news" and for updates as we get them. we are following the investigation into a stabbing on a septa bus. police say that one passenger stabbed another person with a screw driver and right now they are still searching for the suspect that ran from the scene in german town. jeanette reyes is live now at septa headquarters are the investigation. >> reporter: the search is on this afternoon for that suspect. as you mentioned. septa officials say that the 19-year-old victim got a cut to his lip after the suspect swung

a screw driver at him. it all happened on a route 23 bus around 8:00 in the morning, this was as the bus was near west logan street intersection. and police arrived on scene and the teen received four stitches to his lip. that was the only injured he received. he told police he did not know the assailant. and they say there was an argument moments beforehand but no word on what exactly sparked it. the search continues this afternoon as does the investigation. we'll keep you posted with new information. channel 6 "action news." >> jeanette, thank you. police are investigating a deadly car accident here in wilmington. two vehicles were involved in the collision on christina avenue at 8:00 a.m. the 46-year-old woman driving a white infinity was killed and the second victim the man in the

other car was air-lifted in critical condition. the trial a man accused of defacing the frank rizzo statue in center city was postponed. there was a joint request involving the defendant this morning. the 27-year-old spray painted black power on the statue. the trial is now expected to begin now in march. turning to accuweather and the big change in the forecast. it's another pleasant day as we look live at the jersey shore. cape may from sky 6 hd and we are expecting a big warm up over the next couple of days. david murphy tracking the latest conditions outside on the terrace. and boy do we deserve warmer weather. >> it's nice it's not so raw here now and standing in the shade you want a decent coat. as we look at satellite. the cloud cover is out to the west and we enjoy sunshine through afternoon a few pop-up clouds but it maintains bright

conditions today. and we are already at 41 in philadelphia. probably only adding a degree or two to that in the next couple of hours. chilly and better over the weekend and much of the last two weeks. right now 38 in trenton and allentown and reading and 40 in wilmington and 40 in millville. getting close to the afternoon highs now. winds are light and that is good, go out and dress appropriately and you don't have a strong wind to deal with only 3 miles per hour in philadelphia currently and staying fairly low for the rest of afternoon. and temperatures are also not going to too far. it looks like we drop down into the upper 30s at dinner time. and slowly slide after that. in philadelphia we stay a couple of degrees over the freezing mark somewhere around 33, 34. the next couple of days we turn milder. this is because there is high pressure off the coast and a warm front from the north and cold front from the west.

and the air flow is from the mild south. unfortunately we are looking at the arrival of the precipitation, don't get too scared. this system is producing snow in montana and wyoming. and as this pushed eastward and it transitions to rain and friday we see a lot of rain and at times it's steady to heavy. when i step inside we talk more about the rise in temperatures and the rain and see if can he can't clear it out for the eagles game this afternoon. for now you need a coat but a nice day overall. thank you. out west rescuers are racing to locate possible victims of powerful mudslides. at least 15 people are confirmed dead after the destructive storm swept through in california. marcy gonzales is live now in burbank with the latest on the situation there. >> reporter: sara the rain has finally cleared but this mud is

going nowhere making for another challenging day of searches. a desperate, difficult effort through thick mud. >> the mud is so deep -- >> to find the two dozen people still missing in southern california. >> my mom i'm fighting with all of my heart to find her. i can't focus on the fact she is most likely dead out here. >> an emotional and unsuccessful search for robert's mother who disappeared when heavy rain unleashed massive mudslides. >> it sounds like a hurricane or freight train. >> after the largest wild fire destroyed vegetation and anything to stop the flow of this fast moving mud and debris and has killed at least 15 people in santa barbara county. >> we couldn't get out in time. multimillion-dollar mansions

crews reported a partial collapse of the buildings roof. and no one was injured. a man is in critical condition after he was shot in north philadelphia. gun fire erupted on west norris street. they found the 42-year-old victim at the location and rushed him to the hospital. they are working to identify the suspect and possible motive. traffic is moving again on the pa turnpike following a multivehicle crash in bensalem. after one vehicle overturned in the westbound lanes. at least five vehicles were involved in the collision. pennsylvania governor tom wolf is expected to declare the opioid crisis a statewide emergency. the move opens up more resources ..r hard hit areas. much more ahead. 13,000 tourists are trapped at a ski resort.

california has blocked the trump administration from ening the da daca program. the president announced the program would end on march 5th but the ruling stops the government from enforcing on it. just hours after the president met with lawmakers to discuss immigration reform. the civil rights lawyer is arguing the removal of a teacher in handcuffs. it shows her complying with the city marshal's orders to leave the meeting and next she is seen on the hallway screaming as the marshall handcuffed her. she asked questions during the time reserved for public comment and the teachers union and aclu is looking into the incidents. helicopters are going in to rescue tourists trapped by heavy

snowfall. 13,000 people were trapped at the popular ski resort at the matterhorn alicia vitarelli 46 inches of snow fell. a vehicle in new york city was crushed after a massive piece of ice fell on top of it. the chunk of ice fell from the top of a 20 story building and landing on the back of the car. fortunately nobody was inside of the car at the time. the owner of the vehicle an 18-year-old from new jersey was around the corner and the department of buildings issued a violation to the owner of the building who has since had the ice from the rooftop removed . and a man is waiting for his home to be freed from the sandy hook bay in monmouth county. danny's houseboat was swept away in the blizzard. the 53-year-old and his two dogs

all right david is here with another check of the accuweather forecast. nice to see the bright sky and the sunshine today. felt pretty good. >> we got up to 44 in philadelphia and 45 or something like that. that is chilly weather but felt real good but we are usioned to the colder stuff. stormtracker 6 live double scan we are dry right now and as we look outside. still a fair amount of sunshine

and you are not seeing as much as we look between the buildings next to city hall and the rothman ice rink and there are skaters out there. and tending to skate over to the sunny side there with the exception of the folks in the foreground they are looking like they are learning how to skate. in any event not a bad day to try it out. we are above freezing in philadelphia. they have the refrigeration underneath the ice. windchill 3, and that is the case the rest of the way. upper 30s in allentown and lancaster and trenton and 40 in millville and 44 in cape may. satellite shows us we have maintained sunny conditions for the morning and a chance that we get more cloud cover popping in during the afternoon but still fairly bright and nice. up in allentown chilly for your high 38. and bright skies and all things considered decent. down the shore probably 42 on most thermometers.

partly sunny and pleasant and the clouds digging in a little bit. and philadelphia 41 now and probably go up to 42 and sit there for a while. bright skies be seasonable conditions and the average high is 40 today. and the wins are on the light side and a few more clouds as the afternoon goes on but good. overnight partly cloudy and low of 33 degrees, it's possible we stay above freezing in philadelphia and tonight for that matter and some suburbs could dip below and it's not out of the question we get the melting and then it doesn't completely dry and a refreeze and we are getting better and better in terms of patchy ice as we transition from yesterday to today and tomorrow morning. winds are light tonight. high pressure is in control. as we go through wednesday. 40 degrees or so is your high. we have some of those clouds building in and tomorrow we get what is mostly a pleasant change, high pressure off the coast and frontal boundary from the west and that encourages a

southerly flow and bounces up to 50 tomorrow and mild conditions to the south will be drawn in. and obviously stable in fronts of that front. we see lots of clouds out there and by evening sprinkles and showers and during the day 50 and cloudy and not bad for this time of year by a long shot. tomorrow night we moisten the atmosphere up. some of you may between 7 and 8:00 and could be fog developing with the next system and overnight into early friday morning, we expect the chance of light shower activity for the morning commute. as we go later into the day there is the chance that we get steadier cells popping lieu and i think there is a chance that the entire region at some point gets heavier rain and 5:30 more of that. and a slug of it coming in tomorrow night. so friday looks to be a rain day and at times we could see heavy downpours and a decent amount of

weather and they enduring the intense training to be ready for an ice rescue. john rawlins is live now at fdr park where the training takes place. >> reporter: it was fascinating and cold down there on the water. for almost two hours police officers from the marine unit plunge repeatedly into the the pond here at fdr park it's a pond that is covered in part by a thick sheet of ice. >> over and over again this morning. marine unit members worked on ice rescue training here at fdr park among the scenarios how to safely rescue someone that may be unconscious. an officer in gear rolls off the ice and into the water and attaches a sling around the victim and signals to other officers to pull the line and to a safe position on the ice. >> in our
