brown. storm preparations are already underway - south carolina governor "nikki - haley" plans to issue an evacuation order for the coast. it will start at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon. here in north carolina.... u-n-c announcing tonight it's monitoring the forecast for this weekend's game against virginia tech...and will make every effort to play the game in chapel hill saturday. many area high schools have begun moving games to thursday night ahead of the storm. university of north carolina at wilmington issued a mandatory evacuation for all students. they must leave campus by noon thursday. let's go to steve stewart -- with the latest storm track from the national hurricane center. chris? an area of high pressure over maine, and lowering pressure over the southwestern atlantic, together are driving an easterly flow across the mid- atlantic. this will continue over the next several days which will lead to more clouds than sunshine the majority of the time. there will be some fog in the mornings as well. the atmosphere by and large though is quite dry, so

next few days. the easterly flow keeps temperatures at or slightly below normal this week. . uncertainty increases with the forecast at the end of the week, and the weekend. the main focus will be matthew. latest guidance suggests matthew will make a close pass to florida and the southeast coast during the middle and end of this week. it is possible it makes a very close approach to the carolinas as well. however, a large amount of uncertainty remains with the track and folks on the east coast should continue to monitor matthew. regardless of the track, matthew will bring dangerous rip currents and surf to the east coast this week. the cloud cover, and rain, will be determined by how fast matthew moves. right now, it appears that rain will spread into the region during the day friday. depending on the trck rain will possible on saturday, especially along and east of i-95. the threat of damaging winds is low, but not zero, especially over the coastal plain. and rainfall of 2-6" could fall, causing some potential flooding issues, especially in areas that had the heavy rain last week.

. he passed away yesterday -- a few weeks shy of his '70th' birthday. but he left this earth -- with little -- if 'no' regrets. he was proud to say -- that he lived a 'full life' -- that took him on an amazing journey. one that he was 'honored' to share with you. sometimes small towns give rise to big dreams and launch the most memorable careers. larry stogner grew up in suca north carolina. and larry's reporting was influenced by small town values like family, faith and love of country. larry admits he wasn't a very good student at first, and the record shows he dropped out of u-n-c chapel hill his freshman year, enlisted in the united states air force and shipped off to vietnam. larry was one of the fortunate ones, returned home safely to chapel hill, caught the broadcasting bug and earned his journalism degree

career at u-n-c-t-v after graduation. he joined a-b-c 11 in 1976. "good evening everyone, i'm larry stogner." and he anchored eyewitness news at 6 p-m continuously from 1982 until his retirement in 2015. while a natural on the anchor desk, larry loved chasing big stories across the nation and around the world. he counted among his favorites, governor hunt's trade mission to china in 1979. the tar heel's national dean smith and michael jordan in 1982. "while hanoi is the capital of vietnam, saigon is the economic engine." his return to vietnam for the 20th anniversary of the fall of saigon in 1995. the tour of ground zero after the terrorist attack in 2001. "nat sound/ this was an al quaeda training camp owned by the imfamous mulla omar." a journey to afghanistan with the 82nd airborne in 2002. "everyone is scurrying for something to eat."

to the blast. two homes were destroyed, and a third home was so badly damaged it will have to be razed. officials said 38 people were either displaced or left homeless, and 10 firefighters were being evaluated at hospitals for possible ear damage and other minor injuries. new details about a deadly commuter train crash.....in new jersey last week. federal investigators say the train was traveling two to three times the 10 mile per hour speed limit when it slammed into a rail terminal....killing a woman and others. the federal safetygators have recovered a data recorder, a video recorder and the engineer's cellphone from the front car of the train. actor "ben - stiller" is recovering from prostate cancer. the 50-year-old says he was diagnosed two years ago. stiller told "howard - stern" he survived the cancer because of early detection. during an annual physical...stiller's doctor suspected the cancer after conducting a prostate-specific antigen or "p-s-a"
