home.the coroner says sophia rhodes died yesterday evening... because of smoke inhalation. inhalation.the fire broke out at this home on green street sunday night.firefighters say four other children...and four adults were home at the time. they tell us the family tried to get all the children out...but were not able to get to sophia because of the heavy flames and smoke.she was found unconscious between a couch and a wall in one of the front rooms. 3 this afternoon... a memorial honoring sophia continues to grow outside the home.grieving neighbors have left statues of angels and stuffed animals. meantime..."first assembly of god" is asking for donations for the family.the church says they need girl's clothes in sizes 6 and 7...and baby girl clothes from zero to three months.the church is also collecting cash and gift cards to help the family get back on their feet.for more information on how you can help...go to foxcarolina.com. 3 meantime in laurens county-two dogs are dead after an early morning fire there.

on whitten road near sid lee road just after 2 this morning. investigators say two dogs were killed...but no people were hurt.the cause of the fire remains under investigation. 3 and staying in laurens... there's a warning this afternoon from congressman jeff duncan about a phone scam! scam!callers are pretending to be with the i-r-s and they are targeting the elderly.just so you know it's a scam...the congressman has released a list of things the i-r-s will *not do over the phone... including demanding immediate payment...not allowing you to question the amount you owe... requiring you to pay taxes with a certain type of payment...asking for credit or debit card information...or threatening to call police if you don't pay.if you think a call is fake...duncan says the best thing to do is hang up and report it. for more information on that... head to foxcarolina.com. 3 now to a developing story---- 3 a union county teacher--who resigned after a nude picture of her spread through the school--is telling us her side of the story.

proposal...troopers say "eddie mills" was **hit and **killed while loading a car onto his truck in spartanburg county back in november.now -- his wife stacy is leading an effort to pass "eddie's law." law."the law would provide protection for tow truck drivers... who are only covered under certain circumstances in the state's current "slow down, move over law."this afternoon...the education and public works subcommittee met to take up "eddie's law"...and dozens of tow trucks showed up at the capitol to show support for the bill-we caught up with eddie mills' brother ben mills at the statehouse about why this bill is important to honor his brother--and protect tow truck drivers across the state. 3 3 if you dont slow down and you dont move over as wide as these trucks are as narrow as the emergency lanes are a lot of times youre coming between six to eight inches of hitting someone either by a mirror or god forbid the front of the car. youre coming between inches of taking someones life 3 if the bill passes...it would have a maximum fine of
