3 the big game just days away. the panthers hoping for their first title in franchise history - but it won't come and company will be put to the test against the broncos' defense. 3 but while cam newton has a ton of momentum heading into sunday's game -all eyes will also be on peyton manning. manning.there's lots of speculation that this could be his *last game - closing out a remarkable n-f-l career.sports director aaron cheslock joins us now with more from the sap center in san jose. 3 3 3 alright guys, welcome to super bowl opening night. it's essentially media day, but this is the first time it's in prime time. the denver broncos are out talking to the media. right now, obviously peyton manning with the biggest gathering in front of his booth. the carolina panthers just minutes away from making their way out here, but obviously the big story with the broncos is the quarterback peyton manning. a huge story coming out today that some friends are saying that this will be his last game. obviously, it's been speculated for a while now, so the first thing naturally that peyton manning has to deal with the topic of conversation, it's not the ball game against the panthers, it's whether this

well as parents who live in that area. rebecca what did they have to say? 3 well some people were shocked because they say crime is not high in that area but others i spoke with were not suprised at all. police say they continue to patrol the area near north main street but say they have not seen the vehicle or man in question since the reports were made. 3 3 3 3 carsthe neighborhoods along and around north main street are quiet... and for the people who live here... news that someone may be approaching children has them concerned. 3 3 "it normally doesn't happen close to this area, but some places it does happen." happen." 3 "it's alarming!"police say other than some car break ins now and then, crime is not high in the north main communities. 3 3 "we're trying to make sure that if this person was in the area what his intentions were." gilberto franco the public information officer for the greenville police department says officers are patrolling

upstate?we asksk fox carolina's sarah danik to investigate...she spent the afternoon at a greenville water treatment plant . 3 cody and diana - a safe water supply really is something many of us take for granted.i learned today, *many things went wrong in flint - and what happened in *that city has those who work in the water industry, talking - and making sure their operations, are up to par. 3 3 3 there are no short cuts when it comes to making sure drinking water is safe. 10:01:41 what you're seeing right here is the water straight from the table rock and north saluda reservoirs. dennis porter is the chief operations officer for greenville water - and oversees everyone from the engineers, to the maintence staff.he tells us - what happened in flint - i i something that's on a lot of minds. minds. 3 what we want the citizens of greenville to know and greenville county to know, is that their water is safe

the reasons greenville water has such a clean record - is because of where it comes from fromtable rock and north saluda well as lake keowee.17:55:36 we are able to capture water that hasn't been touched by anyone essentially its coming straight from rainfall - into our reservoirs - they are protected we don't let anyone on them there is no contamination that can happen from humans 17:55:54another way that the water system stays on track - chemists do a lot of their testing are the thousands of tests done every day in their labs... can actually see every motor every pump of the treatment process - equipment, whether it's running or not runningand vigilant employees- watching every move from the control room at the treatment facility.the non profit organization "upstate forever" keeps an eye on environmental issues like water quality - and tells us one big reason there havent been problems in this area - is good foresight. foresight.18:16:01 the situation in flint is very different than the upstate of

3 in a developing story 3 a western north carolina man is charged with attempting to support isis - in a plot that included planned assassinations and mass shootings. shootings.justin sullivan was in federal court today - the 19 year old morganton teen faces seven federal counts - and as much as 80 years in prison for the charges against him. sullivan was arrested in june - after fbi investigators determined he'd gotten guns to conduct deadly attacks on u.s. soil. 3 the district attorney said sullivan pledged allegiance to isis - and planned to kill hundreds of innocent people," the indictment claims the teen watched violent isis attacks online after converting to islam in september of 2014.the following june, the fbi claims sullivan attempted to plan terror attacks - and discussed those plans with an undercover officer. he intended buy a rifile at a gun show - and had asked the undercover officer to kill his parents in

primary set for the 27th. 3 tonight... fox carolina investigates. 3 a greenville business that provided mental health services.earlier this month... it was operating here on airport, the building is empty, suddenly shut down. the employees who worked there are out of jobs and say they haven't been paid in weeks! 3 many of them emailed, messaged us on social media, and called us here at fox carolina.they wanted answers on whether they'd get their checks...and where the money went! went!i met with several of those employees today.they're angry and upset not only for themselves... but for the people they used to help, who are now without mental health turns out... visions of greatness is the subject of a state investigation for medicaid fraud. 3 3 3 these women all worked at visions of greatness.some for a few months...others for more than a year.all say... they are owed paychecks.

were broken into...we've blurred this video because police said they're not yet able to id this man as the suspect, although the gym believes he's the guy.they say wallets, cash, credit cards, and financial documents were all reported stolen. spartanburg police are now sending a word warning to drivers - to make sure they're belongings stay safe. 3 3 3 you are the one that makes the difference between whther or not youll be a victim especially in these kinds of break ins. dont leave stuff out in plain sight either leave it at home or secure it in a place where it can't be seen. and then lastly i think just make sure youre locking your car up so people dont randomly sort through and end up vandalizing your car. 3 now police have investigated numerous similar calls at that golds gym location - as well as the one on w.o. ezell boulevard.aside from this most recent incident - police have reports of two other car break-ins, one from each of those far it's not clear if the incidents are
10:34 pm crime stoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. 3 a man accused of hitting two greenville police officers with a car during a get-away will spend seven years behind bars. bars.only fox carolina's cameras were rolling as darell johnson went before a judge this morning.he pleaded guilty to assault and battery. 3 back in may 20-14-officers say they shined a light inside a car that was playing loud music outside the shemwood crossing apartment complex. they say johnson then drove off - hitting one officer and rolling over another's leg.he was arrested in georgia a week later. later.johnson was orginally charged with attempted murder- but the charge was later reduced to assault.a judge sentenced johnson to 20 years in prison-suspended to seven years - with credit for time already served. 3 nearly two doezn people were arrested in union county, after the sheriff's office recieved a tip about a wild party - being live streamed online! online!saturday night - deputies received the tip - which led them to the live

but one gaffney woman says she is thankful a trooper pulled her over when he did. 3 her exchange with the officer left a lasting impression on her during a difficult time. 3 fox carolina's shale remien joins us now with the details her. 3 cody and diana - shirmel smith was driving along highway 85 with her two kids when officer chirstopher mace pulled her over.her kids were screaming, distracting her from the road. she says the speeding ticket didn't surprise her ...but what the officer did next did. 3 3 3 "people die everyday on the highway, highways are dangerous and for me to be going that fast, with my children in the car, that was dangerous and i just had a stressful day."shirmel smith was stressed after visiting her husband in prison sunday evening. she was speeding on her way home, with her two little ones screaming in the backseat. 3 "i was obviously speeding and a tropper pulled up next to me and asked me to pull over and

there's going to be a mess!" but for smith, this mess turned into a mini miracle. "when i said my husband's name, he was like "oh yeah i know him. he knew how much time he had and he knew all that! he said i'm sorry that happened to your family. he made a connection that's going to stick here for a long time." trooper christopher mace gave smith a speeding ticket, but she says he also gave her a gift.
