speaker of the house paul ryan to deliver next week's republican address to the nation. 3 now to a developing story---- 3 former north charleston police officer michael slager--who is accused of killing walter scott last year is out on bond- that has sparked protests, as civil rights groups are calling for justice- 3 3 3 3 3 members from the national action network, black lives matter, the n-a-a-c-p, and the coalition gathered outside the charleston county detention center today calling for solicitor scarlett wilson to appeal slagers bail and for police chief eddie diggers to be fired. the groups also believe that wilson should be removed from the case and replaced by a special prosecutor--one that doesn't have a political agenda. but the main focus was keeping 3 3 3 3 ask walter scotts family how they feel about mr. slager being free today. he didn't get a chance to be home with his children for christmas,

to get roads repaired. repaired.she joins us now with her story, live from along highway 11 in cherokee county. 3 cody and diana...this morning darlene says she was driving down highway 11...when right 3 3 3 "it almost made me wreck my car this morning."darlene humphries is describing the moment she hit not one, but two potholes while on her way to work on highway 11 in cowpens. i just hit it and the tire went flat right away. humphries says the potholes were so deep...like a gully, a canyonthey not only popped her tire but also caused damage to her car. 3 3 this is the damage done to here and it also cracked my side panel here. 3 she says the potholes along highway 11 have been an on going issue for years.and after this latest incident -- shes calling on sc dot, who

3 that we can get somebody to come out here and not doctor our potholes but maybe pave our whole road. 3 3 if there's a crack or a spot in the pavement or any kind of moisture it tends to make the pavement weaker and the base weaker. stephen ellis, a maintenance engineer with scdot's cherokee county office, says all of the rain weve seen has led to many potholes opening up...and the cold now is only making it worse.when it gets cold it there that freezes it can contract and expand and cause the pavement to break and push apart. ellis says there are no current plans to repave highway 11, but says crews s actively make repairs.he says sc dot maintains about 700 miles of roadway in cherokee county alone...and depends on the public to make them aware of any issues. you know they see that road day in day out, where as we may see it two or three times a year. so when you see changes in the road

3 if you recycle outside the city limits--chances are you've seen a brochure just like this-that outlines the changes to come-and while it has some riled up-others are simply saying it's no big deal... deal... 3 3 3 "we're asking residents, to pay, ones that want to recycle, to pay a one-time fee of twenty five dollars, and that goes toward covering part of the cost for the larger roll carts which we're also transition to in this process." among the changes--collection days will be reduced to once every two weeks-and greater greenville sanitation will no longer pickup glass for their curbside routes..."it's been a mixed bag, as an avid recycler and someone who also recycles glass it is a disappointment." but its something that chuck lagrange says was necessary-- "some customers understand that given the market conditions this is a business decision and it's something that we have to do. they're very happy that they're going to get to continue to recycle and they like the way the program is going to roll out.
