students were hurt when, investigators say, 14-year-old austin hancock opened fire. he's now in juvenile custody. one of the students who was hit by shrapnel is bring called a hero.but 14-year-old brant murray's mom is just thankful he'll be ok. she says he was sitting at the table with the boys who were shot -- the table next to hancock.in the moments after the shooting -- paramedics rushed brant to atrium medical center. ginger weaver says she's been hearing from parents telling her brant may have saved their kids' lives. students who were shot... cameron smith and cooper caffery.. are both expected to recover. cincinnati police say they need more witnesses to crimes to speak up.but they say the old addage "see something, say something" isn't always enough to get the job done. 9 on your side's kristen swilley joins us live in the newsroom with what incentives they're offering witnesses. if you saw a crime happen would you tell police? while your answer might be yes, chief elliot isaac says too often that isn't the case. now they are trying to counteract what they call a "no snitch" culture... and they need your help. the department has a new program called cincinnati citizens respect our witnesses. it provides several services including support in court and referrals to counseling designed to meet the needs of witnesses and their loved ones. in some cases the department would help with housing and moving witnesses if necessary. it's a call not only to potential witnesses, but to business owners as well. chief elliot isaac is asking them to
