There really is a place called Kinney about 90 miles out of Santa Barbara and it's not much changed since this show was filmed. It's a little bigger and miserable too.
I think it's known for apples plus there used to be a lot of oil there, near the Elk Hills. Best to avoid it.

The part 1 is not the first part of the unseen pilot where he witnesses the landing of the UFO but an interview with the main actor, Roy Thinnes.
Part 2 is the second part of the unseen pilot.
I have seen that pilot before, just not sure when, on original broadcast or on reruns.
