Advocates & Poets, Kiran Waqar, Hawa Adam, Balkisa Omar & Lena Ginawi are a Vermont-based slam poetry group sharing their experience of how creative expression and activism compliments each other and their mission to cultivating a space rooted in vulnerability and authenticity for young writers to speak the truth.
Tired of having their voices ignored by older generations, they turned to slam poetry to be heard and to make a change. Since forming these girls have competed at international levels, won numerous awards, performed widely, and help lead several local and nation initiatives.
