chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get... friday... he was a merman... today he's a truck driver. new reports show wages for drivers have once again increased and will likely continue to trend in that direction. fox 5's mike doria joins us live from the t-a truck stop with the reason -- recruiting people to get behind these rigs is apparently tough

shortage now of nearly 50,000 drivers and that number continues to increase each year. truck driver wages are nearly eight percent higher right than what they were last year at this time. the median salary for a truck driver currently is 54- thousand dollars but drivers can make up to 73- thousand if they haul for a private fleet. glassdoor.com -- a job search website -- crunched these latest numbers. and puts truck driver pay way ahead of other blue collar jobs. another reason for the wage increase -- the booming economy -- an increase in the amount of goods than need shipping. and -- this isn't a job that can be outsourced overseas or automated. the problem though is

players on a texas high school football team are heartbroken this morning.... a teammate died after hitting his facemask on the ground. (elijah boles / teammate) "he was also in choir and he ran track. and he played baseball. "he did everything." according to aaron singleton's family. the 15-year-old suffered a seizure after hitting the ground. and had a fatal blood clot in his brain that surgeons could not reach. the sophomore's school is now rallying around his family pinning ribbons near their hearts. to raise money for aaron's memorial fund. here in the valley. the southern nevada health district wants to help you with your medical care.. by adding adding a nurse call line. its part of the community heath improvement plan. its not clear when the line will be set up.. but they're testing the system today. the nurses will be able to help patients with referrals.. health assessments.. and health education. las vegas's newest hospital has welcomed its first baby.. and theres a good change this little

one person has died. and another was injured.. after an a-t-v crashed in the desert. "this time of year, weather's nice everyone wants to be outside and they want to do outdoor activities but it's one of those things you do have to take percautions according to police.. both riders were not wearing seatbelts or helmets. the passanger taken to the hospital is expected to be okay. in national news.. janet reno.. who was the first women to serve as the u-s attorney general.. has died overnight. she was 78.

demand -- and because of that, their pay has once again increased. this is according to a new report that's putting a spotlight on the profession. fox 5's mike doria joins us live from morton's truck stop with the details -- recruiting people to get behind these rigs is apparently tough -- there's a major shortage now of nearly 50,000 drivers and that number continues to increase each year. truck driver wages are nearly eight percent higher right than what they were last year at this time. the median salary for a truck driver currently is 54- thousand dollars
